UUC E46 M3 SwayBarbarian Fitment

I just got off the phone with Rob at UUC and had an interesting discussion with him.

It appears that the rear bars in their kit, shown below, are guaranteed to fit the Z4Ms because their part number is an exact cross reference to the E46 M3s.

http://www.nexternal.com/shared/Stor...t=products.asp

However, the same doesn't apply to the front bars. He offered to sell me the kit, and take a refund on the bar if it doesn't fit, as he is interested as well if it will.

Anyone have any experience with this? Is this a decent risk to take? Would running a rear-bar only have negative effects if the front bar doesn't fit and I have to find somewhere else to source it from?

If you just do the rear depending on how much stiffer it goes it just affects under/over steer. I think a thicker bar in the back induces more understeer. Would wait for a better response from the boys that track and have way more knowledge than I do.

Well it would definitely change your understeer/oversteer characteristics just running the rear bar. The Z4 is already lacking in front end grip and running a stiffer rear bar is going to make that worse. You can get a front bar from Ground Control. I have also read that the m3 bar can be modified to fit the front. I would take the risk for the sake of the community!

And you want aftermarket swaybars because???
UUC sells H&R bars that fit the Z4M but hardly worth the trouble; H&R bars are 28mm front and 21mm rear while the OE bars are 27mm front and 22.5mm rear.
The Ground Control Z4M sway bar set is more aggressive if that's what you're looking for.

I want it because I auto-x and want to eliminate understeer. I already have RS3s, I want to get this and camber plates

I realize H&R has solutions, but like you said, it's only a 16% increase.

I know ground control is out there...but they never update their site and always says out of stock.

I guess it calls for an email

Give Jay at Ground Control a call. Their website might not be the most up to date, but he's a great guy, and will be happy to answer questions. Worth a shot at least!

I'm running the Turner E46 M3 bars on my car F+R no fitment issue.
However, I did change the rear end links to Hotchkis adjustables.

I'd bet that the UUC's would likely fit aswell.

I've been contacting TC Kline and they are looking into alternatives for something to fit with my car.

With being local, I want to go with these people.

This is what they have to offer for E46 M3s

H&R 30mm

http://www.tcklineracing.com/webdocs.../Details96.cfm

RE 31mm

http://www.tcklineracing.com/webdocs...Details497.cfm

Anyone confirm these?

So you have e46 m3 bars on yours with no problem? I know the rear is the same
But I thought the front was different

Well that changes things. I'll just get e46 m3 aftermarket sway bars

Just to confirm, these?

http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-26...y-bar-kit.aspx

If so, that's awesome!

Any specific reason why you changed the rear end-links?

Yes,sir.

I changed the rear and one of the front endlinks to allow for corner balance adjustment.

Also, figured since nobody would confirm fitment, the extra adjustment range
on the rear would ensure proper clearance to the half shafts. I never tried
the stock rear endlinks so I can't confirm if these will work.

If you get beefier sway bars, keep on eye on your frame (or preemptively re-enforce) as per this thread.

The E46 M3 rear sway bar is the same P/N as the E86 M, so I don't think I'll have issues there.

Just to get this straight, beefier sway bars = more force on that area?

Hrm.

Because the larger sway bars has less give so it puts more stress on them mounting point

Just to clarify that just a larger sway bar in the rear will increase over steer, not

I ordered a H&R 30mm Front Sway from TCKline Racing after talking to Erik.

He insisted that a rear bar will yield no gain, but he would love to sell one to me if I still wanted it....of course I passed.

Erik has had experience with racing Z4Ms, so I respect his opinion.

He told me to run the rear bar, and if I can't rotate the car, then remove the rear bar completely.

Won't be out on the auto-x course until May 6th, so won't be able to give a review until that occurs.

I still have the rear 21.5mm Bar on my ///M Roadster, is it better to get the 22.5 mm bar for a firmer rear ?

Any idea why BMW ///M desgined the rear roll bar of the roadster softer than the coupe?
