Climate control not working after jump start

Hello, I must have left something on in my car last night and the battery was dead this morning. I had it jumped, and everything is all right, except for my climate control. It lights up, but will not blow air of any temp. Also the air conditioning and rear defroster buttons are not working. Any ideas?

Thank you.

Thank you for the tip. I just disconnected, would about 15 minutes be enough? You will be my best friend if you save me a trip to the dealership.

Let's hope so, that climate control module is $500 from the dealer if I remember correctly

If you guys end up need a new module, let me know, I have one in mint condition out of my '05.

Also it could be your battery reading less then 12.65v very common thing that gives all kind troubles. Solution: Remove battery complete out of the car and charge it to 13.5 -13.75 range, no more then that, let the battery sit out of the car for at list 6-8 hours after it's charged then reinstall the battery (+) first (-)neutral last

It happened to me and freaked me out, Also before you put the battery back on the car make sure it still above 12.65v reading otherwise your battery is bad.

Well, the BMW service told me the whole control unit needs to be replaced.

This thing costs 500+ euros if new (I live in Greece)...

I just purchased a used part from eBay, and will try to place it myself when it arrives, it shouldn't be that hard, it just has a screw on top and two connectors at the back as far as I can tell by the blueprints (I bet BMW would charge me 100+ euros just for the placement)...

I hope Paul this is not the case for you and the thing is not broken like mine.

Best bet is to remove the Radio and Vents above radio, then remove panel below climate control. From there you should be able to easily remove it. If I remember there are clips on the left and right side of the unit in addition to the 2 screws, so becareful and do not break them (you'll see what I mean when you get the replacement unit and see it)

How long did you disconnect for? Try overnight.

The lack of Auto Up/Down windows is normal any time you disconnect the battery, the sensors do not know where the window is. There is a sequence you have to do to bring them back (search the forum, I've forgotten the sequence).

As mentioned above, check any Fuses that deal with the Climate Control.

It turns out my car was in transport mode. BMW charged me $60 to turn that mode off and told me I have a bad cell in the battery. They want $425 for a new battery plus an hour labor. Took it to auto zone, they said the battery tested fine. Now I don't know what to do.

Does the climate control work now?

I've left on lights before, and the car usually shuts them off when it senses a drain.

Does that work on the M, or the 3.0? Wife left the lights on today on the ///M, and the battery totally crapped out. Had to have AAA jump it. Battery did take a charge, but is at the end of its life (have to replace it this weekend). So perhaps that's why the feature didn't work (current drain cutoff assumes a certain level of battery capacity, battery is more or less toast, it didn't catch it in time....).

Check this out: http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/...roblem-t44239/

Exact same problem, "transport mode" the issue. God I love Google.

I will visit the BMW service asap to check it out.

I believe it's both. I don't recall ever leaving a light on in the 3.0i, but I've done it in the M. My center console light was stuck on for about a month because the tab broke off.

Interestingly, when the battery started to crap out on the 3.0i it gave me fair warning. The car started weaker and weaker each day for several weeks; if this ever happens to anyone else, replace the battery ASAP because I ended up killing the starter as well. With the M, I went to start it one day and it was completely dead. No warning at all. The windows wouldn't even seal closed after closing the door. Each time I opened and closed the car door they would dip down a bit but not have enough power to go back up. By the time the tow truck arrived, they were at half mast

The driver of the tow truck made me feel like an idiot. He asked me to pop the hood to jump the car, and when I explained that the battery was in the trunk he pointed to the positive terminal near the firewall. I'd been pulling apart my trunk to trickle charge my 3.0i for years for no reason

How long does it usually takes you guys to crank the starter before the M actually starts? My MC usually takes 1 - 2 seconds of cranking before the engine fires up. Does this sound normal? My X5 usually fires right up within half a second or so.
