Would you buy a coupe with only 16k miles?

..... but most it's life was spent being drivin about 10 minutes twice per day, so the engine never really warmed up before the trip ended.

Thoughts?

I'd have a look under the covers to see what the internals look like.

Well, the S54 is not as prone to carbon build up as many other BMW engines are, so it may not be as much of an issue. A 16K mile coupe is a pretty sweet pickup currently. You might inquire why EAG hasn't jumped all over this. Otherwise, a reasonable PPI should be enough.

Totally. At the end of the day, a low mileage car is likely to have less wear overall than a higher mileage one (including cosmetic wear and tear). Also, it will obviously maintain its value better, as a 16K mile coupe is a rare commodity these days.

I'll by it. Where is it?

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

I guess my question was aimed to find out if an engine that wasn't really ever warmed up to proper operating temperatures for all it's life would have issues down the road.

I'll be seeing a BMW master mechanic tomorrow, that knows the S54 very well, I'll ask him.

I just bought one with <14,000 miles, runs and sounds great. The previous owner drove about 2,000 miles per year and stored it under cover, full tank of gas, on charger. he had the oil changed annually as well at BMW dealership. I've installed a new battery, and had the brakes flushed. Put on a new set of tires, and wheels, ARC8. Nice Ride!
