***UPDATE***Drive Circuit Of The Americas***UPDATE***

Event Update!!!!!
WE will now offer a NOVICE run group ALL THREE DAYS. Friday single day of $499 Saturday and Sunday combined for $800!

BMWCCA MEMBERSHIP IS NOT REQUIRED!
(Renewals or new memberships will be paid for by TexasTrifecta)

I'm not really sure if this goes here, but I am dang sure its far more important than being in the regional forums.

The THREE BMWCCA Chapters of Texas has hosted an event at Circuit of the Americas for the past 3 year. 2016 will be our 4th year at this amazing track.
Last years information can be found at www.texastrifecta.com.

This year the event will be on June 17-18-19, yes we know thats Fathers Day weekend. But HONESTLY guys wouldn't you REALLY prefer to be driving on a track than getting a tie! This is the smoothest pavement you will ever drive on. Its also the only track in North America that Formula 1 uses.

For those that don't know BMWCCA is a non-profit group so we can't make a huge profit by running this event. We cover our cost is our main goal. This year it looks like BMW is going to give this Regional Event status that will bring in larger numbers of entrants.

I know there are more than a few of us that actually take their cars to the track. I know over the past 3 years there has been a total of 3 M Coupes at the event each year.
Maybe this is a bucket list item to drive this track. I know it would be great to see more of you at the June event.
Registration will open January 4 on Motorsportreg.com
Come on down to Austin, have some great BBQ and have the best fathers day you can have.
I am the event chair so I can answer 99.9% of any questions.

If I lived closer, I'd be all over this.
Should be a fantastic event!

We have people come from Washington state, Washington DC, Colorado, New York State, California.. it's amazing to hear where these people come from to drive on this track.
Not many people can sit and watch the F1 race and say "Oh I've drove that track and know that corner."

That would be a fantastic place to take the car after I get the supercharger installed.

That would be a fantastic place to take the car, PERIOD. Supercharger or not.

If I was at my old job at the software company, where I get up to 20 days of vacay a year, this is a no brainer. I might still go, just instead of driving my MZ4 Coupe, I'd fly in, rent a sh*tbox, go and have fun, then fly back.

Pretty much what I'm thinking. For me Father's Day has long been a day when dad does whatever dad wants to do, *not* a day when dad endures a boring meal and gifts he won't use.

I used to go to the US Pro cycling race in Philly on Father's Day for example. My neighbor (also a dad) and I would get up early, drive to Valley Forge Park, and ride the rest of the way in. We'd find a perch on the Manayunk Wall for the first few laps. Then we'd spend the rest of the day doodling around the city watching the race from various venues, ending up at the start/finish in time to watch the final sprint. Then we'd hightail it out of town on the race course, which was still closed to car traffic. Fun times.

That was then. Now my son is a dad himself, and he lives in San Antonio. Hence my mulling.

Ahhh PERFECT road trip then. I use to race for a cycling team out of north Dallas in the mid nineties. I know EXACTLY where you are talking about and Manayunk Wall!

Considering getting my brother and I out there, he's got a tuned 135i out of Dallas and I would be making the trek from Lubbock to come do this. We have family in Austin, so there really is no excuse, but we will see.

When does registration open this year?

Hmm. If there was a group of folks in NorCal or SoCal attending this event and transporting cars out to COTA I would be in, too much for a solo effort.

B_Dol... I would check around with your BMW groups because we always have transports come in for the event with 5-8 cars coming from all over. We have groups from Washington, New York, Colorado, Florida.

Do you know what the approximate cost of the event is going to be? And isn't Austin super hot and humid during that time of year? Seriously considering...

For Advanced, Advanced +, and Intermediate run groups are $399 per day
Novice Student is Friday only and it's $449
Garage rental is $75 per day
Its the cheapest of any group hosting and event at Circuit of the Americas
The cost to rent the track if OVER $150,000.00 for the weekend.

Not so much humid as it is just hot, but yes it is pretty warm down here in Texas in the summer.

Thanks Texas for posting that up.

This would be so tempting for a reason for a stateside holiday, or part of it, are there any cars available to hire for track time, as I would be coming from the UK?

2skiddy, to be honest I have never had that question asked before, and you would be STUNNED to hear some of the questions I get. For it being in Austin, Texas I am SURE there is a place you can get a rental. Let met talk to some people in Austin about it.

Hi, it would be interesting to know, regardless. Hopefully my Z4 GTR will be finished this year, but it would not be straightforward to get it to Texas for a track day! In fact, if it works over here for a few laps I would be delighted, as it has turned out to be such a complicated build.
Cheers
