Does anybody know the story on this car please?

Quick disclaimer, I'm not affiliated with the seller nor do I know anything about this car. I'm obviously posting here to see if anybody does!!

I've had my eye on this car for a long time, as it's proving impossible to sell, and was wondering if anybody knew the story on it?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2006-BMW-Z4-...FZGXjD&vxp=mtr

It's further proof that supercharging these cars makes them nearly impossible to sell at standard prices. Seller could get that price for the car (Enthusiast's Auto would probably ask more!) without any mods. This car obviously has a ton of mods on it, all high priced stuff too.

I've been thinking about supercharging my Z4M, but it's running up on 76k miles right now so I hate the thought of the S/C investment honestly. This car here seems like a great compromise, only 10k miles and ready to go out of the box with all the engine mods I want. I could even buy this one, then switch over wheels/tires/Stoptechs/Stromungs/etc. before selling my Z4M.

Can anybody help out on this please, or know the story of the car? Somebody invested a ton of money in that car just to dump it for less than what the car would be worth stock! It's also kind of a lousy color combo with the brown interior and white top, but I'd fix both of those problems after buying the car. Silver is my favorite car color too!

Thanks a lot.

You've got it backwards. Buy the car, put it back to stock, save the parts you want, and sell it for a small profit

Lol, seriously just goes to show you that adding performance parts is stupid investment wise, and if you sell, if at all possible, return it to stock.
Looks like a nice car though Nicky, but sadly i know Jack all about it.
Good luck mate.

it looks like this shop installed most of the parts

https://ind-distribution.com/

and this shop was the last to work on the car on 09/03/2015 at 10,114 miles.

http://werkstatt533.com/

if you do decide to buy i would try calling them to get more info about the car. they might not tell you anything, but it wouldnt hurt to try.

and if youre from out of state theres a disclosure about being taxed twice on the purchase

Applicable fees EVERY out-of-state transaction requires an additional $25.00 30-day Illinois drive-away permit fee and a $169.00 Illinois Documentary Fee plus State Sales tax if applicable. Illinois residents and residents of tax-reciprocal states include: Arizona [5.60%], California [6.25%], Florida [6.0%], Hawaii [4.0%], Indiana [6.25%], Massachusetts [6.25%], Michigan [6.0%], South Carolina [5.0%] or $300.00. Out of state buyers are responsible for ALL state, county, city taxes and fees, as well as title/registration fees in the state that the vehicle will be registered. We will provide you with proper sales tax documentation showing proof of the taxes we collect for you.

Thanks again so much!!

It's still a big pill to swallow, my car is paid off etc. so not sure there's much in it to get this one. It's also a lot of money for a car that it's pretty clear nobody wants, adding a supercharger to these cars really kills any resale value. Have to think it over, but thanks again for your help!

I considered this car months ago and decided against it.

There are a lot of quality parts on it.

I wonder how much he's trying to get for it.
Obviously more than $9,401.

Yeah, if it was silver/black I might have already purchased it. That interior/roof color combo is terrible.

Wear on steering wheel controls and seats does not look like 10000mi to me. Mine has 12000 miles and looks pristine.

The market must be at an all time low for tuner cars when bidding ended at $9.4k...which is about the price of that supercharger kit...

I'd like to know what his reserve price was. Probably around 30k if his buy it now price was 37k.
So there's some room to negotiate

I'd normally agree with you, but I replaced my steering wheel and controls less than 8k miles ago with brand new units, and the damned controls on the wheel are already showing marks!!!

Yeah, if you notice SC cars never sell for much on these forums. The owners can't seem to give them away!

$30k would be a good deal, and about where I'd want to be with the car. That roof/interior combo just really kills my motivation though.

And the strange thing is, tuning your car is a bad investment, but the tuning parts themselves are fine investments (better than a new car probably).
I mean a 5 year old sc kit or LSD or BBK will often sell above half its original value (msrp prices seem to go up too in that time), whereas the car probably wont
Whenever you see a modified car for sale, first reaction is probably "how much for the bbk alone?"

The biggest problem obviously is: all enthousiasts already have the car, but not the hop up parts...

For sure, putting the car back to stock and selling the parts is the big time way to go. I think however, it would be difficult to sell a car that was formerly SCd. I personally wouldn't want a car that had been SCd at some point in its life, I'd be worried about wear/tear on everything mechanical. I'd also feel it was my duty to let any would be owner know this, and not to just dump the car off at Carmax or something and let somebody else get ripped off.

They're asking $37995. I'm wondering if all that bubble wrap in the trunk is the stock parts. Even if they are all there, the price is very high.

The bubble wrapped items are probably the stock parts (and I see a spare bottle of sc oil ).

I dont know if the price is that high. This is still a very low mileage car.
Ok, its fairly low spec on options, and the brown seats/siver rooffabric are a bit marmite.

This sc z4m is 25k, but has done about 60k miles, so 50k more miles. A bit more options, and interestingly also with both sc and exhaust, but both from a different manufacturer (VF/remus):
http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1283855

In europe (mainland) these cars would sell as hot cakes because a z4m alone would be worth 35k, especially with this mileage.
In the UK on the other hand.... these cars are very cheap. So price is very relative.

Aww thanks, I do love her so!!

The attention and compliments my car gets are something else, it really does look unique and I think everything came together nicely which I had planned for the car. I'll likely keep her and S/C it one day. Thanks again.
