How is the install on the M5 knob ? Set screws ? Since the Z4M shaft has no set screws, not sure how the attachments fit. ECS just says DIRECT BOLT ON. ECS has it for $ 207. Ebay has some listings. Nice attachment pics.
No set screws, just get it in the right position and push straight down and it kinda snaps into place. To remove pull straight up, it doesn't come off very easy.

I paid $115 shipped for mine from tischer bmw, but that was 4 years ago, so I don't know their current pricing.

I Emailed Tischer. Really had a hard time navigating their site.

Part of me ( the future HPDE part ) likes the Jaffster Tall Derlin SK. Having my hand closer to the wheel makes sense. It's ugly though.

Get whatever works best for your application, function over looks.

Yup, the price has gone up substantially since I got mine 4 years ago.

I wouldn't go any shorter than the ZHP knob. I feel any shorter and my hand will start hitting the center console.

Anyone have an armrest on their Z4M ? I always feel like I would like a place to set my arm down on the same plane as the shifter. I saw one on a site called Zroadster.com

I have the LeatherZ Mark4 armrest and it works really well for me. It puts both my elbows at the same height making long trips more conformable. Plus it provides valuable extra storage. Some people say it gets in the way when shifting, but I don't find it gets in the way at all. I think short people may hit their elbow on it when shifting.

Just cut a block of foam the size of the armrest and place in the location and drive around with it for a few days and see how it feels.

Just did a Google search, actually read your ZPost from several years ago. The extra easy access storage would be nice. Reaching into the vertical console is really difficult while seated. Tried to find the one I saw when I first bought the car 5 months ago...gotta dig back in my records.
Edit : Roadstersolutions.com has a nice wide/low one available for $85, seems nice. Anyone ever try this one ?

I drove for a few hours today. Lots of heal toe with aggressive shifting, knob stayed put. I think I was more conscious about quick shifting without follow through on the pull.

I know I have read a few folks who used that one and liked it. I would go for it if I wanted one as it seems less obtrusive.

I didn't love the 2 straps on the back to hold it in place, but look to be placed tightly into the EBrake area. I do love that it is low and wide enough for 2. Generally I'm driving solo, but I've been letting the GF drive it some, with me in the PS. So weird to be sitting there, trying not to comment on her shifting, total lack of any downshifting, maybe some 2X clutch. NO REVMATCH....Aggrrr The more she likes the car, the more she can reason my wanting to spend some on it. At least my recent CDV delete makes the car drive more like an actual stick.

Guess I'm not the only one then. My fathers Z4M...ripped it right off on a 1st to 2nd shift. My Z4M...same thing.

I feel like they are great cars that few people know exist. At least people that don't really know their BMW's. I've had mine now for 6 months and I look so forward to taking off my 2 car covers and driving her once a week or so.

I have not reached a decision on getting a new knob, or keeping it original. I have been doing a lot of heel toe/quick shifting and the knob is staying put. I did consider using some sort of bonding agent and permanently attaching it, which is an option.

Keep it original...just a few drops of super glue and you are fine.

I've had the ZHP knob on my roadster since I purchased it in 2011. It gets hot down here in the summer, and my sweat over time tends to eat away at the leather. The finish wore off the ZHP first, then the exposed leather became gummy and began crumbling away. I'm at a point where I hate re-buying things every few years that I know will die out, so I went with the TWM Big Typr R in satin. I really like this knob. Well made and should last the life of the car now. It has a nice heavy feel to it. Drove around today with the top down and even in 87 degree sunlight, it never got excessively hot. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics

I like the tall look of this, now going to go check it out...Thanks for the option

Edit Later Cool on the TWM Big Type R - 600 grams/ 7 different finishes / ATIS technology Height Adjustment ( whatever that means ) plus you can pay for different engravings/shift patterns. All that for $ 120 ! I think I may have found my knob. Keep my lighted knob for inevitable sale of car while it's perfect. My car is a Sunny day/weekend car anyway, so I could live with out the lights, even though it does look cool at night. I think I've only driven it at night twice over the last 6 months since I bought it.

Still thinking about a short throw shift kit ( TWM makes one ) Has anybody installed a short shift kit ? I'd love to know how they liked it.

I have a real nice one I will sell you and throw in the boot for $75.00. I went with a short shifter for the track.

I like it. Is it the 600 gram version ? Is it flawless ? Boot (OEM ? ) with red stitching/would match my car nicely, is it flawless ? Is this from TWM/Big Type R, it looks "fatter".
