Which RTV/Gasket Maker???

I know there is info on this around here and in many other places on the internet and I've read a lot of it. However, everyone has their favorite and I haven't found a product that's quite universally agreed upon. So, what RTV or gasket maker do you use for oil pan gasket seams and VCG half moon areas, etc?

Hylomar Blue seems to be very well regarded and that's currently what I'm leaning toward. I believe Drei Bond 1209 is the BMW-recommended product but it's my understanding that it is no longer available though other manufacturers may be offering an exact equivalent. There are quite a few Permatex RTVs that are recommended as well but I've read the most negative stuff about using silicone-based RTV due to the potential of excess causing issues if gets into the engine.

My favorite is Grey Permatex. I use it on all sealing jobs and have never had a problem. It's got a perfect thickness so it sticks just right.
