Dammit, bent my tie rod

Nothing constructive just a rant.
I was backing out of my garage and as I turned my wheel the tire caught the edge of the garage door and scraped my front passenger tire. It was enough to bend the tie rod on the right side. I really have no one to blame but myself. My garage is very narrow and usually I back out very slowly. I guess I was just careless this morning.

I was traveling about 1-2mph. At first I thought I scraped the body but I wish it were that instead.

Luckily there is a BMW indy shop near my house (1mile) so as soon as I learned about it I went straight there. I missed a meeting at work but you do what have to in an emergency right?!

So now I have to wait for a tie rod to be shipped from Canada and to have it replaced and then have a wheel alignment. Hopefully I will have it by this weekend.

That sucks. First time I have heard of that. I am surprised you caught the wheel and no body panels and still hit hard enough to bend something!

Thanks for the support fellas. Yeah I didn't realize I could mess up the suspension and steering so much with a little bump. I guess the wheel was pointing the opposite direction and the torque from that angle really did a number on it, even at low speed.

Just got it back and drives like new again.
