Auto Top Down M Roadster

I saw this wiki page that told me I could click on my remote and drop the top automatically by following these instructions:

"
Tricks
The BMW Z4 also has a few neat tricks. For starters you can take the convertible top off by just hitting the UNLOCK key twice and holding it a third time.
You can also put the top back up by clicking the BMW button, found on the key, 5 times.
There is also a way to put the BMW Z4's mirrors upward through the use of the cars' key.
The car does not need to be on for any of these operations.
"

The top down works fine but the top up doesn't seem to want to work. Anyone seen this and / or gotten it to work?

My source is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_Z4

Thanks!

top down works...

top up...key inserted into door handle lock and twisted to lock position...then hold in that position.

mirrors...they do not auto fold...they have no power folding function. you can manually fold them...but thats about it.

based on U.S. cars...

Yeah top up only works in Europe maybe? I heard there were safety issues in the US so they would not allow the top to be remotely closed from the outside.

Or you could buy a Reinhold remote module. This module allows you to remotely close the roof with the same combo but with the lock button. I bought one from one of the forum members here. I beleive you can only buy it in Europe though I may be mistaken. I have not installed it yet, haven't had a chance but I can't wait to put it in.

Will this Reinhold module roll up the windows as well if they weren't up to begin with?

Yup. That's what I was seeing as well.

I've heard of the Reinhold module but will use my money for exhaust first. This roadster is a little too mellow.

Folding mirrors are not a US option.

Top down works. It does depend on how the key is programmed. If you push the unlock button once and both doors unlock you can press and hold a second time and the top will come down. If you have to push once to unlock the drivers door, a second time for the passenger door, press and hold the third time will lower the top.

Top up is europe only.

You can by a after market product for $150, saw the name in previous post. It will give you top up and down without having to hold the button. I believe a $50,000 plus car should have come with this.

Remus or Eisenmann Sport is what I'm thinking. I've also considered the Rogue Diabo but am concerned it will be too loud. My brother has the Remus on his S52 and the price is right but the Eisenmann is dead sexy.

Just looking though the threads and I had forgot about this. I have been leaving the top down for a quick trip away from car. Not any more I can now raise the top from the outside. Thanks.

I just have two glass packs in place of resonators with muffler removed. $225???
