Z4MC Crash @VIR - Koni Challenge

I know this is a few months old now, but I hadn't heard about it until I came accross it while researching something else. Granted, the car has a roll cage, but to those detractors who think the Z4 is bad in a crash, note the owner's comments.

Quote:
I don't know how many of you guys have seen this already, but check out the pics on the link below. This is the crash the Motorsport Technology Group Z4 M coupe had during the Koni Challenge race at VIR earlier this month.

Team owner Steve Marcus had the following comments about the crash:

"Blew out the rear pads, rear caliper pistons then failed and off he went at turn 14 at 158mph! Luckily he walked away unhurt. Now we are looking for a replacement. I was at Mid-Ohio when Joey crashed and that was just as bad. You should see how our car absorbed the impact through the body and suspension with little to no damage to the drivers compartment."

Thats amazing the entire car is pretty much destroyed. At least the roof looked untouched not sure it rolled onto the roof or not but if it did thats some good safety.

-While the driver that nudged him was at fault for running him off track, it's the track owner who allowed a ski jump to remain in the middle of the runoff. If the runoff had just been basically smooth there would have been no accident - let alone a catastrophic one.
