Need advice on purchase of Z3M Roadster
I found a very nice 2002 Z3M roadster with the S54 motor and 46k miles at a local large new car dealer for 12,900, well below market value.
Unfortunately another small dealer swept in before me and picked it up. Now they have it for sale for 16,900. So the question is would offering 1,500 above what they paid be a fair deal for them and still a good deal for me? |

If you don't try you'll never know. Tell them you saw it at the first dealer. Worst case is they refuse your offer. I don't think you should assume they even paid 12,900 so if your offer was 14,000 you'd still be offereing them plenty of coin. Personally I'd offer 12,900 and see what they say

id be looking at the rear sub frame before offering any cash. if its got pulled welds, your up for Randys sub frame. add that to the total cost

Thanks for the input. I think I'm just going to trade in the m3 for a 981 boxster s. I realized that I want a convertible that I can drive as a Dailey driver. Can't have two garage queens.

What probably happened is the big car store took the ZM3 to a local Auction and sold it to the high bidder at a wholesale price and that is why it moved dealers on you. I see this happen every Friday : - )

Was for the best. Just traded in my M3, and should be picking up the Boxster S this Saturday. First none bmw over the last 5 cars over the last 8 years. Can't wait for the weekend. To top it off, I'll be spending Sunday at Sebring in the M coupe.
