Rims Not to Your Liking ? Paint Em
Actually I never liked my stock rims.
I thought they looked too busy but had potential. If I could minimize the visual effect of the support spokes And shift the focal point to the main spokes, I thought the effect would suit my needs. What I started with Tons of tape and a Shadow Chrome Kit A pile of tape later And here is what it looks like Next to the RV |

Good effort but I think you did ruin them (they look like those spinning hubcaps from Walmart). However, it is ur car so do what you like.

I think they would have looked better if you didn't paint the barrel portion of the wheel. Which confuses me because you even taped them off. Did you pull the tape and then paint them anyway? Or do those pictures just make it look painted?

Actually I have 3 sets of rims (don't ask)
Snow Set (17 " Moda 14 with Michelins) Summer Set (18" Lorenzo 21 with Michelin Pilot Super Sports) And my stock rims with Bridgestone RFT's I use them when I take a tour as insurance against tire failure. The original silver with all those spokes converge on a very thick center. To me that looked more like a cheap hubcap. Visually I was disappointed. Bit the casting had no machined edges for obvious transitions of colour and texture. Originally I planned to just go darker with an all over antracite wheel paint. Recently I have seen a flat gray on an Audi that looks interesting. I can always go back to silver. All that tape ? Well I expected to lay down the translucent shadow chrome paint in two or three 'levels". First the support spokes would get coated the darkest, followed by the rims with the last 'unmasking " being the main spokes. As Murphy would have it, there was a problem with a drip curtain on the rim and that required more paint to cover that. End result being very minimal contrast between the rim and the support spokes. The jury is still out on the results. Not exactly what I wanted, but OK for now. An easy fix if I decide to go back or go darker. Just enjoying my Zed. That style rim reminds me of the z4 coupe concept car wheels, which were a darker color...I think it looks good. I'd be interested to see how that style looked in a complete shadow color.
