HELP - Z4M 2006 Roadster, New Front Suspension
Hey guys,
Im just after a second opinion I've been quoted $800 for front only as below (Rears are Bilstein, black) "We Highly recommend Koni Sport Gas shocks for your BMW. They are priced: $800 pair delivered Note- won’t fit E86 version of the Z4" My Z4M is E85 model based on BMW telling me that from the VIN. Is this about right price for parts only I've seen on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Koni-Sport-Y...xWKlbB&vxp=mtr Is this the same? Would it work Z4M 2006 Roadster? They said it doesn't matter if front and back is different I wanted to check with you guys first make sure im getting right advise and parts. Unfortunately i don't have alot of money to throw at this car, or knowledge (learning). After spending 5K on new Rims, Brakes, Tyres and 1 set Bilstein unknown back shocks with a Mob in Sydney - since then i have been questioning the quality of those rear shocks since learning a bit more trying to get fronts. (apparantly they should be Yellow if decent) I don't know the labour cost, weather i can do it DIY. i haven't been given a contact yet or price for labour, from the place i got this quote from, they just sent me bank request to pay for the part only. So im a bit concerned.... IF you PM i can tell you exactly the place and more details. Guy sounds genuine and was nice to deal with. Maybe you can do better, maybe you know someone?? Im in Bathurst NSW I also need replacement windscreen and dont know where to go apart from BMW Left cup holder Reverse white light bar on boot Left revision mirror (as heater burned it out) left and right air intake plastic things, current ones wobbling Thanks Last edited by fieldtech007; 12-13-2015 at 06:24 PM.. |

https://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-Z4-M_R...n/Shocks/Rear/ Did a quick search of tire rack and ECS tuning which are 2 suppliers this side of the world. They do not list Konis for your car but obviously are available. The Bilsteins are decent OEM replacements. http://www.turnermotorsport.com/BMW-...ks-struts.aspx Edit: Koni does not make struts or shocks according to their website. Also the ad you linked to is for one shock only.

Thank you,
All those links are bargans. So this is a trusted source, BMW guys use? I would assume the current back is ok Bilstein. So any front Bilstein from this source should suffice? This is what i was concerned about, that i can get both front and back same brand cheaper or spend $800 on just fronts. |

I'm sure by this time you've made your decision...if not Bavarian Autosport (bavauto.com) carries the Bilstein for the Z4M $246.00 per shock for fronts. My office is 2 blocks from their huge warehouse. Great guys.
PS I have no interest in this company |

I bought Bilstein HDs a couple years back from BavAuto on sale. They occasionally have them on sale. Keep an eye out. When doing rear shocks the Rogue upper shock mounts are also a popular upgrade. Fairly simple DIY, but I wouldn't call it a beginner project.

I bought bilstein sports a few years ago and love them. Not positive maybe somebody else can chime in but hds are best for stock springs. What I can say is that after two years of having them, I hit a nasty road crater and the strut started leaking, called up bilstein, showed receipt proof of purchase etc and they shipped a new one out that day. They stand by their product imo....the rsm (rear shock mount) is definitely and ideal upgrade in case you ever have to install another rear shock, I highly recommend it. There is a descriptive write up somewhere in the forum on how to do it, I dont feel it was all that bad to be honest, and you've gotta go thru the trunk to replace anyway.
I purchased my stuff from turner motorsports which I consider very reputable, I purchased a whole kit front and rear shocks with h&r springs for about 7 and change, rsm typically around 100 |
