Drive Belt Noise - Please Help
I'm losing my mind because of this squealing noise coming from the engine bay when I'm decelerating. I've replaced both belts, accessory belt tensioner, idler pulley 11287841228 and deflection pulley 11287509508... that didn't solve the problem. Has anyone encountered this?
About the noise: -Sounds like a drive belt squeal / squeak / chirp -It happens when off-throttle between 2k - 1.2k rpm -It happens with both the A/C on or off -It doesn't happen when idling -When I'm stopped and in neutral, I can blip the throttle and hear it (when the RPM is coming down) -It doesn't happen when the engine is cold -On an '03 3.0i manual w/ 68k miles Thanks! |

Get a friend and use a stethoscope to pinpoint the source, problem found and solved.

For anyone searching for a solution to this problem in the future... it turned out to be an exhaust leak. The bolts between the header and midpipe were loose and the midpipe had some play.
