There's not too many places to fit a one gallon + box, only other possible space is between the rear mufflers, where the battery is on the Z3M. If you got rear ended it would not be good. In the trunk, between the shock towers is the safest place available to put it. It is a 100% sealed system, no venting of any sort. Really no different than having fuel lines ran around the trunk. This really isn't something new, plenty of cars run surge tanks, fuel pump setups, even fuel cells in the trunk of a car that's street driven

I can see your thought there. When I built the aluminum tank for my last turbo build, I chose to alter the gas-tank shape enough to keep its carry volume and also make room for a 3.0 liter surge tank and pumps. It was tough to do and still have good approach lines for hoses and fittings.

if that was the case, HPF would have been finished with their kit a while ago

If we were using the same ProEFI setup as HPF this would have been done already. Trevor chose to have every option that ProEFI offers so we have to wait for them to complete the harness. All of the hardware is on it's way to us now, shipped out last week so I can get started with fitment of all the various pieces. Hopefully the complete harness is only a week or so behind!

I was able to stop down at Lutz Performance on Friday during my trip to Tampa. Shawn and Andrew took the time to show my guest and I around the shop to see a handful of cars they were working on. I got a chance to go over the Z4M and the amount of custom work that has already went into it. My guest is an engineer and a specialist with design and he was impressed by the quality of work and also how well form met function. I was dumbfounded with how much time went into the custom parts, and the end result. Definitely not something I would have the patience, skill level, or ambition to undertake. Shawn had an endless knowledge of BMW's, and it was immediately apparent how passionate he is about them. His Z3M is immaculate, and also custom modified from head to toe. I can only imagine how much work went into it, and how much experience and knowledge he received from that alone.

Lutz has a buffet style approach for customers. You pick and choose what you want, and they have the knowledge and experience to make sure it all goes together. They can make you a street, drag, or track application customized to your needs. When you buy a mass produced kit, it may or may not meet the application you intended it for.

Unfortunately for me I am no longer a tampa resident. I feel that these are the people I would trust to leave my car with. They care about my car and performance goals as much as I do.

Shawn/Andrew, I think you have a great thing going, and I appreciate the time you spent with us. You have an established business, customers, and you aren't some shop that puts dollars over sense. Thank you for your time on Friday and especially the opportunities and knowledge you bring to the BMW community.
