Sounds good, I've been waiting for this! Is there a possibility you can post the codings that you are officially able to do? If so we can PM you what exactly we want done and get a pricing quote.

The LCM (lighting control module) is your light switch.

It is not just a switch but a whole assembly. About 9" in depth...

Pull the trim piece off and remove the screw, pull out the assembly... I would have your battery discontented before you disconnect the connector.

The LCM and ECU both contain the vehicles odometer reading. If one gets out of sync with the other a dot is seen next to the odometer readout. It's an anti-tamper measure. It takes a GT1 to sync them up if one is replaced.

Cool thanks for the info. I'll take a look and see if I feel confident enough to take apart the trimming and such without breaking everything LOL..
Any advice/hints/tips/pointers? A DIY would be great, as I'm more of a visual learner =P

So... I assume if I'm going to get my LCM out and ship it, I should NOT be driving the car? Like at all... correct?

I was told I only needed to send in the LCM and not the ECU. Is this right also?

To get the remote roof close thing, is that an LCM thing as well, or a different component?

So....whatever happened to this? I haven't yet tried to take my LCM unit out, but figure it's for the better; until I schedule a coding appointment

I tracked down the modules and language that needs to be modifed for comfort close (ie close with key) and to disable headlamps wash...GM5 module....Just coded up my buddies e86...And read a bunch of modules....Luckily some of the language is very similiar to the e90s once you read the .trc file.

Weird, I had 2 locals who happened to have the software but neither could get it going on my E86, kept getting "faulty VIN" or something like that, but it basically never connected.

Did they get the updated Daten files....I've got the orginial V39 and V40....Also they need the adapater that is being sent now with the cable.....Pin 8 needs to be there for the e85.....The cable comes without it.... I still cant acess all the modules, but GM5 is one you would want to play with. Heres the GM5.TRC file

Bump for update, simply looking for the one line that disables ALL 3 amber bulbs or the 3 individual coding lines needed to disable each individual bulb. It's the inner most bulb closest to the grills that we are having trouble identifying.

Gents, PA Soft allows you to do all of this for $30 bucks or less if you do a little research.

I was able to turn off my angel eyes off and allowed me to use one or both of the amber lights to come on every time I would start the car, or if you select euro - it will turn on the head lights as driving lights and you can turn off the others if you want. I ended up removing the amber bulb closer to the front wheels.... I think 2 ambers are enough at night. search my prof pics and post... you'll see what I mean.

Good luck.

Oh, I ended up changing the voice in my navi to a male voice with British accent and turning on my clown nose. I also enabled my turn signals only when I lock the lock. OH I enabled the option to open and close the top with the unlock and lock button..... ba bye!

PA soft... get it!
