Removing resonators, good or bad?

Hey guys, after installing the M exhaust I want to increase the note a tad so on the 3.0 liters we have two small resonators where your M guys cats are, so would removing them and leaving just the mufflers be a good idea, would I be killing my torque ? Has anyone removed theirs and liked the sound?
Any thoughts would be appreciated !!

Love is like a fart; if you have to force it, it's probably shit.

I can't speak with certainty about the torque but removing the resonators usually has no effect on torque since they are a straight through design. It's mainly added by BMW for sound. I personally think resonators make exhausts sound more tuned.... not so cheap sounding. I would recommend against it. Have you considered headers? It would help with performance and definitely make things louder. Also, if you already were considering headers in the future you might regret removing the resonators since they tame down the header noise.

not sure what you mean by straight through design as when I was changing to the M exhaust I looked at them and they are restrictive and have a permeated wall that looks like a CAT on the inside, they have no O2 sensors near them, but you can’t take anything and stick it through the resonators as its blocked.

what headers are available for the N52 block? not sure but my thoughts are I’m over muffling the exhaust as I’ve technically added another muffler lol,
and the M was for a 3.2 not the 3.0 so by getting rid of the resonators maybe it will be just right.

perhaps ill pay to have a straight through design made up and remove the resonators and see how it sounds if it’s bad ill replace it with my stock setup, as my new designed header back exhaust has M locations so the whole mid section on my car is interchangeable.

I was just hoping some hade experience with this so I didn’t have to spend money on a bad idea... lol

It seems your resonators are a different design than I thought. Give it a shot!
