Resonator Delete.

Our exhaust from factory from what i can see is that we have an x-pipe that flows into a resonator to the pipes. I couldnt see the point of spending the $600 on Rogues x-pipe when if you cut out the stock resonator your looking at a very similar gain in noise. Neither one really offers much towards performance, just looks. I guess my exhaust wont win awards for best looking but o well. Here are some pics and a clip of sound after the cut out. My exhaust is rpi, I dont have headers......yet. First pic is the stock setup on the M, The second is the resonator delete, 3rd is the sound gain over stock w/ rpi.
i personally love the little bit more rasp that it adds to the RPI sound. at 6-8k RPM its screams. I cant wait to put headers on. This mod BTW cost me $140. Definetley cheaper that the x-pipes.

I'm with ya there! Just a thought why not take that whole section out from where the, what I believe are cat's to the end of your weld points and just make an x-pipe into it instead of all the bends and twists? Not bashing or criticizing in any way just a curious question thats all.

just as easy to leave it and it was the first time using that particular mechanic and my flanges are right there. I didnt want to remove the cats just yet for two reasons, 1 no telling how ridiculous the noise will be and two my car is white, i really dont want to be cleaning black unspent fuel off my nice white bumper.

Any increase in the amount of sound after the resonator delete or was it just a different tone?
