OEM Car Cover

Is the OEM cover water proof and if so is it 100% or just good enough for light rain?

It's not "water proof", and that's because you don't want a water "proof" cover.

You want a breathable debris resistant cover. If the cover was water "proof", any condensation that built up under the cover would never escape, thus accelerating oxidation. Instead you want the cover to be water penetrable, so that the condensation can evaporate. The OEM cover does allow moisture to evaporate, and does a good job of protecting against debris, etc.

So there is no way to protect the car against heavy rain/snow when it's parked outside? I changed the top myself last summer and don't know if I did a good job in re-sealing it

You might want a small plastic sheet between the top and the car cover, but allow the cover to breathe everywhere else as indicated above. Even that won't be waterproof. Most realistic option is probably to test/fix the top to water-tight standards in advance of the bad weather. And prep the top with Raggtopp.

If you are off the street and have the room, consider a car canopy or DIY carport to deflect most of the weather.

It works for light rain, but if it stays wet for an extended period, it will seep in.

Thanks for the advice.
The plastic sheet is a good idea. I have seen top-only covers on ebay. Perhaps I can use one of those + a full size cover. I have rented a garage spot but it's not very close to where I live and I was hoping that I could park the car on the street most of the time and use the garage only during snow storms.

What do you do about the OEM antenna when you put the cover on the car?

It fits great over a 4" stubby.

Cool!!!

Looks like I'll have to install the four inch stubby I bought for the car a while back. I haven't installed it because I like the look of the stock one (I know, I must be nuts). But as I want to use the car cover to keep leaves and other gunk off the car this time of year, I'll have to do it.

Cheers and thanks!

I've had the cover since day one, they only last about a year due to the UV, but worth the price yearly.
