Wheel Questions (offsets)
I'm 50/50 with getting either the CSL reps or M6 reps from **********s.com. Both staggered 18x8.5 and 18x9.5. The CSL has an offset of 40F/45R and the M6 has 35F/R.
Since I'm torn with which one to get, maybe I'll go with the better setup. Does the different offset give one a benefit over the other? Maybe one will look better? The M6 should be lighter than the CSL, correct? I was recommended 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 for tires. Should I go 235 in front? |

If you really want assistance, you should provide the year and model of your car. The offsets vary.

I'm not a big fan of the M6 style on the Z4, but style is a personal thing. Depending on which CSL reps you get from them they can be heavier or lighter than the M6 rep - the Forgestars are quite a bit lighter, but cost a bit more. The stock Z4 sport package tire size of 225/255 would be fine while reducing the stagger to the 235/255 setup will reduce understeer a bit. It mostly gets down to what you want to do with the car - if autocrossing then the more square setup is usually preferred. If it's mostly for the look then you can do what pleases you, but they should fit fine.
You can use an offset calculator such as this one, http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp to figure out how much clearance will be lost in and out relative to your stock wheels. |
