Next mod...LED lights
Finally got the last of the LEDs I ordered to finish off the upgrade. I wanted to try blue for the interior and am gad I did...it looks awesome!
Here are the LEDs I bought... 2 LEDs for the map lights (brighter and whiter than stock)... http://www.ebay.ca/itm/180736827919?...ht_5791wt_1060 1 LED Flat for the trunk (quite a bit brighter than stock)... http://www.ebay.ca/itm/110934569084?...ht_3789wt_1035 1 Blue LED for dome light (comes in a package of 2)... http://www.ebay.ca/itm/321045928030?...84.m1497.l2649 2 Blue LED flats for footwells... http://www.ebay.ca/itm/250723289171?...84.m1497.l2649 Total cost including shipping...$11.30 (the links go to current listings...look around on ebay, you can find them a little cheaper). A couple of pics...please note that the map light looks blue in this pic but it is very white...much more than the stock bulbs. A lot brighter as well. Please also note that the interior blue pic is the best I could get with the iPhone but it is a lot brighter than it looks, though is still subtle nonetheless. Now just for a rear license plate LED! |

LED lights
I recently came across the perfect bulb for the front reading lights (the outboard ones) on my '08 Z4 Coupe. Order a couple of "WLED-NW6 6 LED" bulbs from "superbrightleds.com" They fit perfectly and are wonderfully bright and pure white. Cost was about $11.50 for two with shipping. I found that there were a couple of tricks to changing out the bulbs. Most of these round "194" base bulbs are 12mm in diameter. The opening in the housing is 11.47mm. After removing the light fixture from the overhead, the clear lense comes off by removing two Philips head screws that hold it on to the base housing. Once removed, the center bulb is replaced by a 5 LED bulb (one on the end and four around the sides). Remove the base and install the new bulb from the reflector side into the base. The same can be done for the outer "spots". Test it before putting the clear lens back on because they may need to be reversed to accommodate the polarity. Once together, it's a very nice improvement.
