Extreme inner shoulder tire wear

No personal experience, but IMO spherical RTABs are a track only application.
They will be extremely harsh for street and will wear quickly.

I was on the fence about getting the spherical but am happy so far. The BW
ones are pretty trick. No noticeable nvh increase that I notice. Just a much more stable rear end. The bearing itself is a stock BMW sealed rear ball joint in a trick housing. I'm sure I'll get decent life out of them(longer than stock r tabs w/limiters) and then easily/inexpensively replaceable. Probably not for everyone, but very nice on a built canyon carver/track car.

So, did you figure out what made your tires kook like that? It wasnt camber.

The last set of tires I replaced on my MR2 before its demise looked just like the OP's, but I actually had wires sticking out from the steel belts.
Not only abnormally worn on the shoulder, while still having usable tread left, but with that same sort-of convex cup shape.
I never messed with the suspension geometry and had stock shocks and springs.

So, yea, that's something like the RTABs coming apart.

At the time, I just wrote it off to a weakness in the Yokohamas.
Then I blew the head gasket, so never got to the bottom of it.

Not 100% sure until I open it up, but closer inspection definitely showed play in the RTABs, so I knew they had to be replaced. I was going to go poly but then found the BW bushings. After mtrhed endorsed them, I ordered them. They are actually quite trick, so I can't wait to install them.
For the front, I listened to inTgr8r (thanks!) and ordered the superflex poly bushings. They must be somewhere over the atlantic ocean by now!

Spherical is really the ideal setup for the RTAB because of the arc of suspension travel as well as the rotational axis of movement.

Yes, that's the one and I'm pretty excited to try this out. I'll be sure to give an update, but it'll probably be after thanksgiving. I'm in the middle of a kitchen remodel at the moment and the weather has turned cold!
