WTB: Z4M LSD/Differential

Looking to buy an LSD unit for my Z4M and/or a full differential housing with internal bits still in tact. Low-mileage preferred, and unit must be in great working condition. Please let me know if you have one available, thanks!

Looking to either pick up locally or have it shipped to Cupertino, CA zip code 95014.

What do they do with the 4.10's and 3.91's? I would just pm the guys that have swapped them out.

Oh, I don't need ring & pinion. I'm only looking for the LSD unit itself. It's like the central core item that's inside the differential casing. Will try to find a part number for it and post it up in here.

edit: I just re-read your post. You were referring to perhaps purchasing a whole differential unit from those that upgraded to shorter final drive ratio? Well...I think most people rebuild their diffs (like I did originally). In which case, they won't have a diff sitting on the side available for sale

edit2: Also, it looks like RealOEM doesn't provide an inside-look for the differential. They only allow you to buy a majority of an entire unit I suppose..

Yes, my LSD unit apparently has issues, and excessive play--probably due to harsh track conditions and heat, and perhaps wheel hop from launches.

I need to replace just the LSD unit, and so I'm looking for a "pumpkin" so to speak for its internal bits.

Why not just buy a carbonetics LSD, couple with 3.91 and your Z4M diff housing?

Out of curiosity how did you diagnose the LSD issues?

That or a Quaife or OS Giken and the like will be last resort for in case I can't find any cheap OEM parts first.

I went to an independent BMW race shop to have some rear ticking issues checked out, and that's when they found that my rear diff had excessive up/down play. They said something about spider gears. But ultimately recommended I get a new LSD unit. At first I thought a whole new diff was required but they said "no no, only the LSD unit inside".

I have an LSD I removed from my 2007 Z4. I am currently replacing the seals and lock rings. Haven't decided on a price yet, but probably in the $1000 range. Let me know if you're interested.

I don't believe our differentials are the same unfortunately (non-M Z4s don't have limited slip differential at all as far as I know). And used units typically go for $500....But thanks anyway!
