Not sure what the largest tires are, but I run 285's Nitto NT555R drag radials as my daily drivers.... (rear tires of course They don't rub, but I doubt I could go any larger.

It depends what kind of suspension you're on. With OEM, you might even be able to go 295 or 305, especially with properly-rolled fenders.
However, if you're lowered at all, I would stick with 275's, just in case. 285's is a luxury that not many people get to have =P As for the fronts, 245's are usually the widest. I think 255 or even 265 is possible, but you would need to do significant amount of work i.e. A. rolling/pulling front fenders B. space out the wheels C. tons of negative camber (AT LEAST -3 degrees) D. all of the above? lol Usually B and C go together for the above ^ |

285/40 ..... I don't think they make a 285/35 in the NT555R Extreme Drag series??I could be wrong though. These tires are amazing in the summer... even with 440 whp they stick and I've driven them in the rain many times with no issues, just have to be more aware and of course careful.

Pictures of 275/285 on stock please
Does anyone have any pictures of this setup. 275s or 285s on stock 18" wheels? I would love to see a clear picture of the side profile and rear with this setup. My stock wheels come back from powder coat Friday and the tires will be purchased immediately following.
Cheers, B |

I agree completely. I am considering 275's. The specs for tire fitment allow for a 275 x 35 or 275 x 40 to run on our stock 9" rear wheels. I would love to see clear pictures of anything wider than the stock 255's on a M rear wheel. 275 x 35's or 275 x 40's would be ideal. Need to make a call this Friday.
Thanks, B |

All the tire manufacturers list a range of wheels that a specific sized tire will fit on. All the information is easily found on most tire manufacturer's website, and if it's not, it's on TireRack if they carry it. For example:
Stock OEM Continental ContiSportContact It shows that the 275/35/18 tire will fit on rims ranging from 9" wide on the MINIMUM to 11" wide MAXIMUM. Typically the width of the rims that a specific size will fit on will vary from brand to brand, make to make, and even sidewall profiles will have variances on what size rim a tire will fit. So the easiest way is to determine which brand/make/model tires you're going with, then checking on that specific model's list to see what is the widest tires you want to run, and see what is the range of rim sizes it'll fit and see if your rim falls within that range.

The question I have isnt "will they fit." Based on the information available here and from the tire providers a 275 will easily fit on the stock wheels. I just want to see a picture of them mounted? Anyone?

Thanks so much. That is exactly what I was looking for. I would be interested in everyone's comments on why not to go with 275's? Some are obvious but from those who have actually done this it would be great to hear your impressions.
Thanks |

Please post pictures when you get a chance. I would love to see a shot from the back at ground level and a close up of the tire from the back. How do they look on the car? Are you running stock suspension?

Spinsall, if you are looking for a "wider" look then I dont think simply sticking wider tires on the stock wheels will do much for you. Even though you may be getting a wider tire keep in mind they will still be squished on the stock rim. A 275 tire on a larger diameter wheel will give you the wide wheel look.

Actually i am looking for the max amount of contact patch possible on the stock wheels. The looks are less important. I had my stock wheels sitting around and just had them powder coated black. They need tires so I figure why not go wider if they fit and dont have significant draw backs. I have a set of 19" CSL's as well so this is strictly a nice to have.
