Alternative use for cup holders
I was surprised to hear how many US/Canadian users have broken their cup holders ... surprised because outside of the US, I don't think people use them much. I never use mine .... which made me think ... maybe there are some nice alternative uses for them ...
For example, perhaps a cup holder might provide a neat way to somehow attach a TomTom (rather than sticking it on the windscreen) ... it would be closer, might be easier to attach with the right widget, and you could easily do hand-swipes/gestures on a touchscreen. ... Or for an iPad to attach to ... or ??? |

There gotta be some alternative out there... Since they're useless for holding any kind of cup.

I hardly ever use mine since picking up Ultimate Cup Holders a while back. Sooo much better!

I thought so too, until I realized that one prong of the "claw" can be pushed in to grip the cup tight. Still not the best cup holder, but it does work for small starbucks and etc...

I replaced mine with the blanks used in Europe and then bought a pair of ultimate cup holders. Works great.

i absolutely love mine. The only cup holder you can have a big old blender bottle in and a redbull in and never worry about spilling.
that being said, you have to be cool with replacing them every now and then lol |

I alway just thought they were absurdly large diameter. I was having troubles envisioning a cup that would fit properly. 16/20oz Starbucks cups were definitely a no go, as they seemed to take about a 40-45 degree angle in the things. Seemed useless. I'll have to take a closer look, now. Last edited by msh441; 01-27-2012 at 12:53 PM.. |

Well, I've tried using mine as a holder for my TomTom ... basically I attached TomTom to cup, and popped cup into holder. Worked OK, but in that location, one gets reflection (at night time) in the side-mirror ... which is far from ideal ... and may be dangerous.
Am now experimenting with placing Tommy TomTom in the ash tray thingie ... |

The same type of people that don't know they have an aux port (2006+) or that the side view mirrors fold up... haha.
