Man, you've hit the nail on the head. Every day I end up stuck behind some jerk in the driving 5-10 MPH under the limit, in fast lane, who is traveling exactly the same speed as the two lanes to the right with a half mile to mile of open road in front of them.

That's why they're driving so slow, it's important to read every letter and that slow lane is simply to congested and not appropriate for a high performance, law abiding, responsible driver.....

I'm convinced some of them are doing it on purpose

I had a Prius driver admit just that when asked once. "I'm making sure you guys in your polluting sports cars do as little damage as possible." I think that's pretty rare though.
I don't think most of them do it on purpose as they seem to occupied with everything besides driver: talking on the phone, putting on makeup, daydreaming, half asleep, or just totally stupid/clueless. I see that if/when I ever get the chance to go by them--they're really not driving at all, they're on the road but somewhere else. Which is why they're the ones that plow into and rear end people if/when traffic does slow down. Okay, you've got me with that one! I get the NT reference, but not how it links here. But thanks for starting the Overture from Rush' 2112 in my head! (BTW: I don't get the feeling many who camp out in the fast lane are Rush fans.) |

No, the sign on the left should read "If there's no one on your right, move over"

"(BTW: I don't get the feeling many who camp out in the fast lane are Rush fans.)" I would definitely agree with you on that one "I don't think most of them do it on purpose ................. " I would also agree with you here, as I said "some" and you said "most" , lol ............ I don't think a large number do it on purpose, but like the Prius story, usually it is someone who is adamant that the speed limit is XX and I'm not going 1 mile an hour over, either for "tree hugging" reasons or because they think they are saving lives |

Some people DEFINITELY do it on purpose. I've talked to people who do, and I had trouble being polite.

Speaking of Prius ................... there is a guy in a Prius who apparantly is on my schedule in the morning. I have encountered him twice in the last two weeks in almost the same area of town. Both times he punches it to show me just how "baddazz" and sporty his Prius is .................. like I care, lol......... and he continues the "spirited driving" for the next couple of miles until he takes a fork in the road different than mine. Now I don't street race (but I do love spirited driving on dry roads in good conditions and minimal traffic), and if I am traveling quickly in the morning it is almost always because I hit the snooze bar one time too many ............ not trying to "run with the Prius" What is too funny about all of this is that if you could see the bumper stickers on the back of his car, you would have no doubt immediately labeling him as an extreme left wing liberal tree hugging socialist (I'm not passing judgement here, just a VERY accurate assumption based on his bumper stickers of choice) ................... so why the need to "prove anything" to me about his car. I mean come on dude, walk the talk and drive 5 miles per hour UNDER the speed limit ........................... or remove those damn bumper stickers
