Idea for event ( 1-Z fest this November) Q&A

So this is a question to see how many of you would want to do a 1 series and Z meet? Reason for a combo event is we are a smaller BMW population then the other models. I know I have posted doing this idea before but am seriously considering organizing this for us as long as there is interest.

Here is the idea:

Meet in Early NOV for a weekend Event probably 8-9 2014.

Sat:
Everyone drives there in the am from locations that are a 4 hour drive
- Organized Lunch In San Luis Obispo
-------To be decided-------
- Drive up to see Hurst Castle
OR
- Drive to Morro Bay to walk around
----------------------------
- Dinner in Pismo
- Pismo Night life

Sunday AM,
Social time at the dune
- Arranged dune buggy rentals
- Arranged ATV rentals
- Organized Lunch
- Drive home

Thoughts on actually doing this? I would handle all the arrangements and bookings for those who go.

I am noticing there is less traffic on these threads than in the past. Is it cause the Z series is the "old car" or is it people don't want to meet up?

I'm noticing that as well, for whatever reasons. I have not seen a "Z meet" in a long while

This event sounds like lots of fun and a good "middle" place too, to get both NorCal & SoCal folks. Can we work in a drive or 2 as well? Will it be on the chilly side at the dune comes November?

We can do 1 drive. Idea is to be more social than drive.

Just trying to figure out if anyone is interested first. Don't want to do all the work for nothing.

Temps will be mild for sure but when was there for Halloween it was pleasant. Wife only needed a light layer if that helps sell the other half.

Draft for the event. As I am not getting feedback I just made what sounded fun.

For Day 2 we could do a group drive to Hurst Castle instead of hanging out in Pismo. If anyone cares to comment on which the prefer to attend let me know. I can work out a group tour rate for the castle and we can see San Simion beach.

I'm so down for this! I live just south of San LUIS

Let me know if you need help with anything. I setup a lot of charity car shows/meets in the area and work in the wine industry as well if anyone is doing any tastings, etc.

I think a 1-Z meet is a great idea!!! (I can't attend because I'm in New York and its a little too far to drive) I agree that meets are hard to arrange, Might I suggest that you reach out to the "local" S. Cal Groups of the ZSCCA (Z Sports Car Club of America) you can find them on FB or zscca.org it would be a good way to target more Z owners that aren't on this forum? Hope this comes together for you, sounds like a good time, good luck!

FYI there is a z-fest and zscca that doesn't get mentioned on this board often if at all. zfest this year is in PA, but registration is closed. http://www.zfest.com/

If I was in Cali, I would totally try to make it out to a 1-Z fest, sounds like a good time.

We are going to do this the first weekend in NOV.

Just seeing with people if they prefer on Sunday to just relax in Pismo or drive to San Simion and the castle. Suggestions?

Not sure if you guys are interested but I know a GM for a local hotel here and the owners happen to own one in Pismo called The Edgewater. Its more in the downtown Pismo area and closer to McLintocks they are willing to do a group rate for us.

$104 for single bed and $118 for double. Normal is $155 I believe. Right now they can set aside at least 10 rooms for the block and it's located right on the ocean front and 5-10 min walk for all the places to grab beers at night.

My hope is we have more than 10 of us. I need to call the Quality Inn off 5 cities. They have rooms for $89 at a discount rate. I just need to call to confirm and hold.

All I need to know is if people wan to chill or drive to San Simion on Sunday and then i will post the full event and setup the registration page.

My friend is working on the rate for us. She did say that we can easily do 15 rooms. Breakfast wouldn't be included other than muffins I think is what they provide lol.

I'll report back when I get an answer on the rate.

Sounds awesome! But it's the same weekend as F1 in Austin TX, so if I can't fork the cash for that, I'll be there.
