M wheel installed

Well, even with the car on jack stands waiting for parts to come tomorrow, I still managed to install the new M wheel that came in today. Pretty simple install.

Wheel was a lot thicker than I thought and had very soft supple leather on it. Feels great. Much better than I expected.

Cant wait to get the car back on the road and try it out tomorrow and see how it fells along with the new poly FCAB and poly sway bar bushings I put in.

Looks pretty good too.

Anyone looking for an OEM wheel in excellent condition? =)

Is it possible to get one of these with the paddle shifters? or are they mounted to the steering column?

I am not sure? I drove one with paddle shifters once, but I do not recall if they were on the steering wheel of if they were on the column? I assume the M was available with an auto, but maybe not?

Edit - by this it looks like there was, but I never saw that option anywhere I was looking for one???

Only if your steering wheel already came with paddles. Otherwise it's...Complicated.

having an M wheel on my car with paddle shifters, I can assure you that its possible.

Mine was installed by the local dealer last year. The paddle shifters attach to the steering wheel and there are holes present in the non-M wheel for that, but not in the M wheel. So my dealer had to drill holes to attach the paddles. I believe they used my original wheel as a template and it turned out perfectly on my car.

Got mine at getbmwparts.com. It was the best price I found on it. I have seen used one on eBay for more than that. Comes with the multi function panels and all the trim, but not the airbag. Very easy install - took me 15 minutes tops. Noticed driving it today that the buttons are a little different than my old one. The are flusher with the panel and do not stick up above the panel like my old ones did. Not bad, just different.

Love my M wheel. One of the best cosmetic mods to date.
