Taking Delivery
I'm new to this forum and to the Z4. Just purchased a 2007SI with 15,000 miles from a BMW Dealer. Is there anything specific that I should be asking the dealership to do before I sign off on delivery?
Thanks |

Have the dealer print service record and or copy them without the previous owners info. On the lifter issue, IIRC, this was an issue with the 06's and early build dates 07's ( build date found on drivers side door jam towards rear fender ). I am not sure when the date was this was fixed. The original fix was rev engine to 3k rpm's to force oil to lifters, then changed to replacement of the lifters and was changed to the replacement of the head ( both was done on mine as the lifter replacement did not cure the tapping noise on start up )
Other key programing such as, day time driving light options ( lights on all the time or the ability to turn them off, helps when hiding from cops as you can go dark without turning the car off, LOL ) plus all others mentioned above. You can also choose your steering damping feed back to the steering wheel in the non-M cars ( heavy, medium or light feedback ). Have them give you a printout of the key programming as well ( then scan and post it here ( TIA )) Don't let them BS you on this. Get a updated nav disk also.

On my car, when I unlock the car with my key, the seat will move to preset memory position 1 - but only if someone has changed the seat position previously. 99.99% of the time, nothing happens with the seat. On the infrequent occasion that my wife drives the car, when she unlocks the car with her key, the seat moves to memory position 2 for her. I'm 6'1 and she is 5'5 so the seat does need to move for her! So, the seats only move very rarely - when the wife drives. If either of us adjust our seat position in the future, we just remember to save it in the seat memory and no problem. Premature failure is not exacerbated by this. Each driver would move the seat as needed; this way the car simply does it for you - but only if needed.

Mine moves back to memory 1 after my wife drives it and I unlock it. I have the 3 blink signal option. Daytime running lights are on all the time unless I put just the parking lights on. Post some pictures.

OH YES!!
If your car is coming from a dealership in the US, you need to be clear that in Canada, Daytime Running Lights means the entire headlight, not just the angel eyes. Cheers!!!
