another really sunny cool day today..... had to bring the old girl out of storage... i cant get enough of the cold power this car makes!!! also noticed the tune is definatly adapting to the cold weather, my AFRs are changing slightly with temp changes, i love having that gauge to check real time as well, very handy..!!

I would love to drive this thing on a really summer sub 0 Deg C day...... simply cant believe the different in power and Tq.

I think a racelogic traction control unit with launch control will allow me to put lay down consistent launches. I've tried to figure out the exact RPMs I need to launch at, but its VERY sensitive to my tire temperatures and pressures. I just gotta scap together the cash for it this spring

I'm still having trouble launching...especially on cold tires. I usually over-spun, then as grip increased I'd either jump it bog it down

I tried 30psi and it helped, but if you see the videos, taking off at anything higher than idle speeds results in too much wheel spin. So far my best starts came from reving it up to 1000rpm, and easing off the clutch as I roll into the throttle. I don't want to damage anything with wheelhop, so I don't do launches in this weather. These are extreme performance tires, so they like warmer ambient temps.

I've tried to do a small roll-out burnout before launching, but it didn't warm up the tires enough to help. I can try 28psi in the rear...

Anyway, the first 5000rpm is where the car struggles with a hard take-off

The analog controller boxes are more reliable and better than the digital ones. There is a ton of info online on them. I'm 99% sure the lotus exige S comes with one stock, and they put down fantastic 0-60 times.

The older versions had some reliability issues, but thats been sorted out a while ago.

I think the controller would fit over the driver side cupholder for a clean install

anyway,
gonna paint my intercooler today

I masked off, and cut out the fins, so they don't have a few coats of paint on them. Then, I took the tape off and did one light coat everywhere. There will be zero cooling changes

I really like it and I'm keeping it like this

can't please everyone!

by the way, all those pics were taken with a 400 watt light shining on it, so under natural lighting its the exact same black shade as the other parts. Its very subtle. I'll get more pics from my good camera later

Kklein made a great observation: my rear camber is -2.5, which is pretty bad for putting the power down in a straight line. I'm going to go with something closer to 0

Anyway, I have a funky electrical gremlin I'm hunting down. Every few minutes or so my radio cuts out and a few warning lights pop up for one second. I lose radio function for about 20 seconds. Must be an electrical short. I already disconnected my meth kit's power lines, next is removing the radio and the power to my boost gauge to narrow it down. Pretty annoying...

definatly, which is why i have always said all along nice conservative fitment in terms of wheel will allow loads of alignment setting changes...... 8.5fr +32 and 9.5+25 looks great and allows all the alignment changes you could wish for..... im going to throw some 888s on my current and new setup............
Im going to be waiting for a long time to get my ga3r..... a long time.

oooh those toyos should be fun in the summer. I have aggressive fitments, but I can still make any alignment settings that anyone else can. Are you running stock rear camber?

We're at freezing temperatures now, so it feels PROPER fast. Even puts you into the back of your seat when you floor it in 3rd at only 3500rpm.

Surprisingly, I barely trigger the traction control if I floor it at about 20mph in 1st gear. I got a lot of practice with that yesterday accelerating out of highway toll (pay road) areas. 20-90mph is very very very fun. Bad traction off the line, as expected

My electrical gremlin might be coming from a faulty ambient temp sensor, which reads 122*F. I'll try that repair first. Its pretty random and I can't correlate it with anything else

A racelogic unit would give you both Traction and Launch control. They're pretty slick. I've seen them on a few NASA TT STis

The way it works is by cutting the spark, so you would have to get a custom ECU tune written that would ignore a misfire code synched with the TC intervention. At the point where it would be feasible to do this, you would be better running a full standalone anyway. Trying to integrate it with the stock ECU sounds like a much bigger pain in the ass than it's worth.

Never heard of anyone having to tune their car for the racelogic system...
I'm not running stock programming. Guess I'll ask ESS what they think. I'm months away from that anyway, I'm saving up for a vacation
