broken windshield wipers

Hi all,
Today i washed the car, turned on the windshield wipers, they worked about 30 seconds, then stopped up.... I turned off the car, turned it back on, and they worked for about 30 seconds. this time I could not turn them off, they would speed up, but not turn off, then they stopped in the up position.. I tried it one more time with the same result.

Any suggestions?

thanks!

The switch that tells it the wipers are down is built into the motor gearbox.
I think either the linkage or gears are slipping, if that's even possible, or the switch inside the motor gear box is broke.
The motor and linkage comes as one piece. $331.93 ... ouch

thanks for the post! I only drive the car in the sun, and this slipped my mind for a week I appreciate you finding that for me.

I wonder if its like the Starter and I can find one at AutoZone for 1/2-1/3 the price (with a lifetime warranty) - I can, if its the same... Ill need to do more research

This is actually fixable. just take the wiper motors out and open them up. there will be grease on the contacts just wipe it off and re-assemble. The grease causes a short and shuts off your wipers. Happend with my si did this never had a problem with them again. The whole proccess might take an hour.
