Very sorry to hear about your loss, but I might be that guy! I'll shoot you a PM, and you can respond when you are ready

So sorry for the car Tony,

But very thankful that YOU, my friend, are okay!

Also quite happy you did the safety bits before this happened.....

When I crashed my car on the Cement divider on Highway 40 many many years ago, I was of course going only around 100 km/hr, but what saved me (no airbags at the time) was the 'spin' caused the initial front contact to be mild, whereas the brunt of the impact was to the rear end, where the car came to a complete stop, and there the headrest saved the day for me.

You seemed to not have had that spin with the full front impact. So, very very very glad you are okay.

Thanks.

You should see me at The Glen next year. Going in the same general direction as you for my next car. But I might just make it a social thing and enjoy the company even after all the hardship you Toronto guys give me.

Sounds good Tony! Good times at WGI for sure! Keep me posted to future car plans - I know you will do it right!

Somebody text me this morning with a link to your car in case I was maybe interested in another track car project.

http://www.lespac.com/lachine/vehicu...30538207D0.jsa

I recognized your car. Didn't see this thread before as I am not on this forum often now that I sold my Coupe. Sorry to hear about it.

Hope you found another car and continue lapping days!

My condolences
RIP to the car.

What do you think you'll hop into next as far as track car goes? It's always good to go back to the basics and work on fundamentals, so don't feel ashamed to rebuild and reboost the ego that's been damaged. Even pros do it sometimes. But I'm sure you're already planning on hopping right back onto that horse after this recent fall

Keep that spirit alive, and motor on!

Sorry to hear of your loss, I would be very upset if I lost my Lucy.

How did the steering wheel hold up? I am sure the air bag deployed, but I do not need that to do a normal Z to ZM transfer (do I?)

If it is still good, what are you thinking for a price?

Steve

OP is Canadian so do any Yanks know of an insurance company that insures HPDE? I would be shocked.

Yup... I've been searching for my car on and off since the Insurance company took it over.
Some jackass took all the ///M emblems. I hope he sticks them on a civic.

I have found a replacement but I will not track as extensively as I did before. A few events here and there, I have signed up for an event that I truly enjoy at Watkins Glen in June.

Carl owes me an event so I will look into doing Mosport in October.

Thanks for the link. Hope to see you soon Marc.

I have purchased a used 911 C4S and will do a few track days. Yes the ego takes a hit. You cant find your limit without surpassing it once.

I will probably join a ChumpCar team and race someone else's cars. But this year will be relaxed.

Thanks for your comments

This seller must have bought it from Impact Auto which is a specialist here in Canada for damaged vehicles. Air bag deployed but I was wearing Harness and Hans device so I never felt it except for the sound and the smell. Steering seem good (apart from bag that deployed) if my memory is right.

The steering is something I will truly miss... Absolutely loved it.

Google is your friend. There are a few in the US doing this. I was looking into it. Prices are prohibitive. I think it's like 300 or 400$ a day (or weekend)
With my regular everyday insurance I was covered as long as it was not a timed event ie race.

But still had to fight a little bit to get properly compensated.

edit: saw your following post. I know that what I did is call and ask. If there was any hesitation, I would call another on the list.

Lockton and OnTrackInsurance are both great but OTI offered me better rates.

The M Will revive!

I hit a cement wall that was lining the left side of the track at Calabogie (after kink before turn 2) I was going about 170 km/h and lost control of the car, and after 3 steering corrections, went and hit the wall nose first.

Damage is limited to front suspension and everything forward of that. Engine is still intact, but Hood, bumper, lights, and radiator stuff are squished. Mostly cosmetic stuff + front suspension and radiator. 2 airbags on driver side were also activated. Maybe a slight bend on one side of the frame.

As for the driver, I had installed half cage, racing seats and harness, + Hans device this winter, so I came out with a small bruise on my right hand and a huge bruised ego.

The insurance adjuster has deemed the car as total loss. He has evaluated damages to 37,000 CDN$. The body shop guy says it is too high in his quick appreciation, but still even if it was 27,000 CDN$, I wouldn't fix the car.

Now just waiting for the amount the insurance will pay me (replacement value) and going to start looking for another car. It's gonna be hard to go from this car to anything else I can afford...

I am happy that I was protected with my safety mods. I am happy the insurance is not making a fuss. I am happy I was able to enjoy this car from brand new (purchased the last available one in Canada) from March 2009 till now. I am happy I progressed so much with my track events with this rewarding car.

For sale I will have:

a set of OEM rims with tires
a set of OZ UltraLeggera rear tires still good (Rcomp Nitto NT01), front tires pretty much done, but I have unpacked brand new NT01s for the fronts
two racing bucket seats (OMP) with seat belts
an indoor BMW car cover
embroided ///M carpets
probably will have extinguisher and bracket that installs on the floor (passenger side)

I will post these things next week.

I bought the car so in 1 week she will be ready and fixed! I am from Montreal too, i want to ask you, you put the oem seat back and didn't tight them right ?

Someone I need A hood for Z4 M the rest of the parts i have!

Yes.. I just put them there. I think all nuts were left in or near the center console...

Congrats. It would be nice to see it through the fixing and the finished product.

BTW... stuff is still for sale.

When did you buy it? I would be surprised if it took only a week to fix it.
