$5 rechargable flashlight at HomeDepoot

Just picked this up in the bargain collection at HomeDepot. Fits perfectly and matches the Z4 interior, available in multiple colors. Glows blue when charging.

It doesn't look like the ashtray door will close with it plugged in.

Hmm, indeed indeed it does not.

If you get the shorter VW flashlight, the door will close. Although, the VW flashlight will cost 4x at $20.

But does it glow blue when charging?

Not a bad option for the cost, since I usually have the darn tray open anyway.

There is finally an OEM BMW one:

If any one knows the part number I'd really appreciate it.

Since it was $5 bucks, I went ahead and got one. The charging blue LED is definitely annoying as heck. It's brighter than it needs to be. Worst of all, it never stop charging, so the blue LED is on all the time for the live socket! I left it in the car overnight to see if it would eventually stop charging...it never did. I'm definitely keeping the VW one in the MC.

I don't think you would want to leave it in the socket anyway since the LED will be ON all the time!

I keep a mini mag light in my glove box with 2 extra AA's in a zip lock bag.

Yea - I didn't notice the blue LED much during day driving, but it was annoying as hell during a night drive. All in all, I'd go with skip it now.
