Garage jack/hoist

OK so being a weekend mechanic and DIYer I would like a safe way of lifting and lowering my Zed. Having unfortunately scraped the side sill recently due to the trolley jack slipping on the factory pads I went looking for a reasonably priced piece of equipment.
I came across this on my search.
Any other options out there that others have used.
Looking to spend around 1500

What about this? I think it's in the right price ballpark.

Thanks Finnegan, I knew I had seen something before but didn't come up in a search.
That one looks beefy.
I do like the clear access the one I posted gives.

I don't have that much height in my garage and that looks like it might do the trick. Nice find!

Lift Stands are another excellent option. They're a bit expensive for what they are and a little hard to get due to the wait list but, in my opinion, they're better than anything up to a two/four post lift.

interesting product.
Do they lift, or are they stands after lifting with floor jack?

^that's the one downside to my lift, but its not a huge problem.
theres enough clear space to get to the tranny etc for service.
its actually pretty good for exhaust work as the beams give you something to rest the system on.
It makes exhaust work an easy one man job.

That said...
There are other lifts similar to what you posted that lift higher that I would consider if I was buying a lift now.
One of my main objectives was to work under the car w/o crawling on the floor, so a low lift wasnt on my radar at all.

You have to get the tires ~8" off the ground but then you can raise and lower there car another 6" front/back side to side any time you need to during a project. The Lift Stands were worth it just for doing my headers. I noticed the OP wants to be able to take the tires off so these may not be perfect but it's really very easy to toss jack stands under the front or rear or even just a corner if you need to. There's so much room under the car, it's so easy to raise and lower now, and I feel 100% safe working underneath for hours.

Looks like there is a Canadian distributor for the Quick Jack.

http://www.babco.ca/Automotive-Equip...nger-QuickJack

I like it, looks sturdy and could be useable in my tiny garage. Great find!

Asked Babco for a quote.
They came back with a tad over 1700 Canuck Bucks, taxes in, dropped at my door.
Might treat myself before end of season.

With the budget you have, Atlas makes a 8,000lb two-post list made for 9' garage ceiling. I'd get that instead.

My 2 cents.

That would be my choice too if I had a taller garage, unfortunately only 8' ceiling.

I'd look into some simple mods to the ceiling if possible. I've got a 2-post lift, full size 10,000 lb rotary lift. It allows for so much freedom to make repairs and maintenance. The one you are looking at is decent, but a compromise at best for undercarriage work. Apparently it is pretty save and can't easily fall over, although it looks like it to me.

I'm sure you'll enjoy whatever you end up with. Good luck.

I thought seriously about a 2 poster.

The only problem with 2 posters is if you use the space for parking the car, the posts are often in the way for getting in & out of the car.
They are also in the way when working around the car such as when detailing
