Sunday nightmare
Finally a beautiful Sunday, so I decided to call up a few buddies get some food at a deli down by the water and we parked right in the store front. I was first one to pull up and everybody else pulled up behind, and as we are sitting online I hear somebody say, "I think that car just got backed up into...sucks for them!" A few chuckles, then I started thinking if that was my car I'm going to see red....not a fun Sunday joy ride

That really sucks. Did anyone leave a note, at least?

When I went back in to deli and asked those snide $h!ts if they saw what make and model, they replied "silver". Which helps as much as them letting me know it had 4 wheels and a steering wheel. No cameras outside, no other witnesses other then the people at window front who were schmucks and the person who attempted to park and flee

I agree - and I would say that some people don’t understand the implications of basic physics, like momentum and action and reaction.
In this case, the other driver’s vehicle was moving and transferred kinetic energy to the front of your car, sufficient to dislodge the grille and damage the paint. To properly appreciate this, they need a refresher course. Here is the formula I would apply to your reaction. P = Momentum M = Mass V = Velocity P(Momentum transferred to other guy’s arse) = M(of your foot in kilograms, while wearing a heavy boot) X V(in meters per second, of your foot, while wearing a heavy boot)

I thought the same thing till I looked closer and realized the bracket for grill is separate and have my stock bumper still in garage and was able to get them off....one less thing to invest in I guess

Can't tell you how paranoid I am when it comes to parking my car. I'll always carefully choose my spots and I'm not talking the spot all the way at the end of the lot because even that attracts attention. Sorry man, fwiw the grills aren't too bad to replace and gives you reason to go aftermarket (matte black). The most important thing is to check the tabs inside the bumper to make sure the surround piece that 'accepts' the grill isn't broken.
The one good thing about having a front plate is that it lets you use something like this (what I have on my X3): |

well, If you don't end up going through your insurance, you're welcome to a set of chrome ringed kidney grills I've got laying around (I switched to black ones). Just PM me your address and pay for the trip and they're yours

Thanx, much appreciated. I already ordered a set of carbon ones from autocarbon, .....the shop was more concerned about the crack in the aero bumper, all the tabs for the housing are in tact thank god. Not a bad idea for the license plate, but the thought of drilling holes is a no no. Unless that has a turret gun or homing missile add on attachment, then is be willing to compromise.

This is one reason I leave my dash cam on when I park. I left it plugged in one night by accident and it didn't drain the battery.
