Surprised yours gives you 5 seconds, mine holds for about 1. Just enough to get on the gas and go
My 2007 M has it - holds for about 5 seconds, then auto releases.

So I have documented about 850,000 miles; all gas records I keep for all my vehicles, want me to copy the last page of each book... The other 150,000 is estimated... conservatively.

And by the way your statistic means you'd have to drive an average of 38 MPH 24 hours a day 365 days a year for 9 years, so apparently you don't sleep, and eat all you meals in the car, while pissing and shitting in motion.

Per my CBS I average in my daily commute between 48 and 52 MPH, which is about 4 hours total a day, plus a 10-hour work day. And I eat, sleep, shit, shave and bathe at home. And watch hockey occasionally...

LOL

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

So over the last three days I spent a good amount of time in my friend's GTI with him behind the wheel (went Mountain Biking in Vermont). This is the first time I've driven with him. When pulling in and out of various locations at low speeds he would constantly fully engage 1st gear and sometimes even shift into 2nd gear, lugging the engine along. My approach to very slow speed maneuvering has always been to "nudge" the car along with low throttle and partial clutch. While this is slipping the clutch I viewed it as better than having it fully engaged and lugging and jolting the drive train.

Thoughts on this? Just curious what others think, I'm not trying to be righteous (never too old to be corrected).

Sometimes it's your only option, but I rarely nudge it in 1st.
Reverse is another story. Little choice other than bump the clutch.
Reverse gear is way taller than it needs to be.
Makes me cringe every time I back out of a parking space.

Then the after market clutch stop must eliminate this feature .

I drove a stick for 16 years then an auto for 10 years, now I'm back to stick with my Z4M. So, I'm more than a bit rusty on the stick and these tips are helpful.
