A/C auto on...?

Probably just a noob question, but ok... When I start the Z4 (3.0i E85 2006) it automatically turns the AC on, great feature if +80 F but not needed at colder days. Can you turn this off?

That should only be happening if you had the A/C button turned on when you stopped the car.

its a key memory option can be change by dealer only.
try with the other key maybe its not programmed for it

It is not linked to the setting of the a/c before I turned off the car.. I also checked the second key and no difference to me.

You recommend me to check the dealer then (no DIY...?)

so both keys are programed to that..
yes..sorry no diy.. only dealer can change.. if you are there (and paying..) you might consider changing few options such as day time runing light (lights the angel eyes day time) or door lock after drive away.. things like that .. i have the full list i will try to scan it for you later

Interesting... but my '06 Z4 doesn't have angel eyes, (or did you mod these?). Doors do indeed lock after drive away. If you can scan it, that would be very welcome!

BTW: the dealer said today that he was unaware of these a/c on options settings based on the key-fob, how can I convince him?

if you car is 06 its facelifted right? so you must have it..
day time running light lights only the inner circle (left from the main light)


any way, the option for the AC marked like this- "A/C operation on with ignition on" (you will have it scan in half an hour, so you can show him).
i was always wondering, the ac comes on regardless of the button position?
btw- if you have the "door lock after drive off" so some one definitely changed the key memory so i guess he changed that option too.

I probably haven't checked out the Z4 good enough, I'll let you know about the angels eyes.

Interesting list, to convice the dealer, what is the source of this document? And where are the items under "CAR:" defined?

The '06 only gets angel eyes with the bi-xenons. Not the halogens.

the document is the offical bmw dealer car&key option report.
the first tow are list of all the options. under car- what you can change in your car. under key 1 2 3 etc- specific change of each key. last page is the report of what i changed on mine..

Just checked, no angel eyes for me... I even didn't know 2x Xenon it was an option on the Z4. Anyway, I'll use your list a show it to the dealer.

BTW: Is it a free of charge "warranty" change...?

I went to a non-offical BMW dealer and they hooked up a PC to my Z4 to update the settings. Took like 15 min to walk through them and with your list everything is now correctly set. (3x blinking, AC off, visual lock/unlock, central lock > 5 mph, open all doors etc). FYI: $50,- @ www.terrysaytherauto.com
