Has anyone tried this yet on their convertible top?

I know..me too. It's getting great reviews though. I'm using 303 protectant right now but it doesn't last very long.

Well being that I have an E86 I can't comment on the soft top but I have used this stuff on other products... shoes and such. Awesome stuff and works as advertised. With thats said, I wouldn't use on a soft top. It gave a slight matte finish to everything it was sprayed on, and over time I did notice some flaking and peeling. So with all the wind abrasion and folding of the top I can only imagine how bad it could end up looking after a few months or even weeks. Just my two cents. Perhaps I applied it wrong?

Don't do it! I took a quick look at the information on this product and I think it would not perform on a convertible top with any satisfaction. Neverwet is a film forming product that coats the surface onto which it is applied rather than penetrating fibers and yarns. That would work well on awnings or fabrics that aren't constantly flexing, but the movement in a top would probably "crack" the coating. It also could change the appearance of the top.
Stick with products like 303 or Raggtopp. I usually get at least 6 months of good protection from either. That's a small price to pay for those days (which I define as above 55F and not raining!) when the top is down. |
