Air Bag Light after Dead Battery
Been doing some searching and can't find this exact issue.
I was rotating and replacing tires and had the car in the air. NEVER even opened the trunk. Got them all replaced and back on the ground started car up and backed her back into place - no issues. Forgot to get mileage for updating sheets, and kicked on key and wrote it down. GF called and I got on the phone and went back in the house. Came out the next day - of course I left the key on and car was dead as a doorknob. Popped the HOOD and connected jump box to the jump point (NOT battery) and let sit for 30 seconds and car fired right up......but the dash airbag light was on. And it has stayed on ever since. Drove it 3 times and hook up my Carly Pro and cleared the codes - still there. Almost every search I find where people bump stuff on the battery and set it off, but I was never anywhere near it. Anyone have any advice or what I can search for to find this? Thank you!

I'm facing a problem that may be potentially the same. Look into "BST"
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=794692 I have read that it is possible to bypass the BST with a 2 ohm resistor. This sounds eerily similar. |

I believe it was the low voltage that triggered it. I use My Carly to login and look and then cleared all the faults/codes and now it still shows clear, but that will not turn the light off once it is on. Need to have it reset and then see if it stays off - meanings the fault did go away.
Looking at C310 readers now that claim to reset this - have to give it a go.

Possibly the SRS fault caused by increased resistance which is caused by dirty connection(s). I've had issues with this numerous times. For me it is the SRS power connection on the side of the main battery terminal next to my battery ('04) in the trunk well. The wires from this connection go to the BST.....
I clean the connection and clear the code.....

It is clearing the light that is getting me. The fault has not shown back up, but the way I am reading I have to have the right tool to get the light to go off or take it in. Looks like if I get the light reset - I should be good.

Bought/used the C310+ reader and after a slight learning curve with the device, I took care of my airbag light issue as well, haven't had any further problems

Since you seem to like doing your own work, I highly recommend you get a DIS/TIS clone from ebay. You can get all the bmw specific codes and cycle through all the modules +repair instructions + torque specs + diagnostic guidelines. Only downside is some of the software can be difficult to install and use...
Best $30 I spent on this car. -gc |

You can't clear the airbag light with Carly? I bought it thinking that it would. I've remediated an airbag light condition caused by dirty steering wheel airbag connections (I posted to DIY) but that was before I had Carly and getting DIS running was a bear for me. Never want to get under the hood of a PC application that way again.

My Carley (pro paid version or whatever) will NOT kill the light. It will read the fault and clear it, but that does not seem to reset the light. I can then run it again and the fault is no longer there, so I think if I get the light off it will not come back on, but I see no way (or can not find anyone else that has done it) to clear the light with Carly.

http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1372437 I used the Creator C310+ reader. Initially cleared a code in the SRS section, turned out that some other codes in other sections needed clearing as well, depends on your situation. If you use it, I'd recommend going through all the available sections of the reader.

LOL - I actually stumbled on that one when doing my searching the other day - funny. I have had the 310 in my cart at Amazon ever since making sure I read up on if it would work or not.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...=AERUN7LBO0FK8 I was hoping the Carly would do it (already had it for light coding) but it would not. Clears the fault, but not the SRS light. I'll get one and give it a shot - thank you!

OK - just to follow up - this unit DID 100% clear my SRS dash seat belt light. Again - my fault did not return, so I just need to turn the warning light off after making sure I had no reoccurring fault, but this unit did do that after I used MyCarly to clear all the faults.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...=AERUN7LBO0FK8 Just in case someone searches in the future.

This behavior is accompanied by dead turn signals. The airbag light does not come on steady with engine on. I did clear faults after jumping the battery from the front posts. Has anyone seen dead turn signals plus airbag sensor at the same time? Oh yeah, sometimes the turn signals stay on which can be equally disturbing. Yes, it was the battery voltage drop. I had to buy a code reader from Amazon and clear the code and reset the airbag light. look a few posts up for the link.
