Carbon Fiber Use – Just Curious?
With the limited availability and selection of aftermarket accessories for our vehicles….I was just curious….
Based upon my personal understanding….the primary application and use of certain Carbon Fiber part(s) is for either, fractional or substantial reduction of a vehicles’ overall weight. I also recognized that there are CF pieces, overlays, etc. that is installed merely as an added aesthetic enhancement to a vehicle or objects overall appearance….. And with regards to a vehicles’ appearance, from what I have read on various forums, the look and use of CF may not be appealing to everyone’s particular taste. Nevertheless, if there were Carbon Fiber part(s) with an OEM fitment that was immediately available for our Z4’s that were both, manufactured of the highest quality and listed at a price that would be reasonably affordable and below original OEM replacement cost…. “What part(s) would you “seriously” like to see manufactured and available in CF? To simplify the topic, I will start the list with the categories as follows: Interior: Door Handles Exterior: Side Mirrors Covers Rear Bumper Diffuser – Overlay Strip Other: Engine Bay Center Radiator Cover |

i say where they're most useful for weight reduction:
hood (even though it's aluminum anyway); trunk lid; fenders, even quarter panels; any front lips, or side skirts
