iPad mini in the Z4

Did a paper cutout (200mm x 135mm) to see where the iPad mini will fit (when it arrives).

Looks like the iPad mini will fit snugly into:
a) the cubby-hole between the 2 seats: top slot, above the multi-stack CD ... pretty cool location

b) the main cubby-hole

Also think that there might be a wonderful possibility to replace the satnav screen with an iPad mini, and make it pop-up on demand in the coolest way possible. Alas, I don't have satnav, so can't check the dimensions.

Im assuming you're talking about cutting a hole in where the navigation sits ? I thought about that, some after market radio installer have done it. I just never went through with it because I couldnt find a good gps at the time.. now it might be worth revisiting it.

like getting this piece cut out and fitting the mini in it ?

heres the retrofit manual, you can definitely "borrow" the template and cut your own hole on the navigation area

So I know the z4 does not have a dummy dash storage area, the x3 has a similar one. it may or may not fit

And here is iPad mini in the centre console (between the seats) -- almost looks like the compartment was designed just big enough to hold it ... And the lip of the iPad mini just hangs out over the ledge, so you can grab it nicely with your thumb ... and the door closes perfectly without touching it

Are all cubby holes the same? I swear mine is a lot smaller than that. I cant even fit my manual in there.
