Hood buffer stop update

Part #8 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...41&fg=35&hl=12
is the the stop buffer on each corner of the front sheet metal that was missing on my car.
I assumed it was to adjust the height of the hood when closed, which I need to do.
However these things do not seem to want to adjust up or down.
What am I missing here?

OK so in case any other pre facelift owners want to adjust their hood closed position to align hood and fenders.

Turn the 6 sided piece counter clockwise until you feel 2 detents ,the bumper is now "unlocked/loose" and you can pull up or push down to the position you want.
You will need to "lock" the bumper in place by turning the 6 sided piece clockwise feeling the 2 detents and it will be locked.
Shut the hood and check alignment. If alignment is incorrect go through the procedure again.

Yea different years used different styles
The part in my photo is considered the stop buffer for the hood for 2.5 and 3.0i E85.

What you picked off the internet is a later version I believe.

I have the correct part, just can't figure out how to adjust the height
