Many speed cameras/cops between Vancouver and Whistler?

A bit last minute but the girlfriend and I are going on a day trip up to Whistler tomorrow from Vancouver. I've not been up there for a long time and just wondered if anyone had any insight/experience of speed cameras or usual hangouts for cops on the lookout for speeders are?

Thanks in advance!

PS, not that I am planning on driving *so* fast, but just a little.

Garage List
Saw a speed trap coming home from Whistler today. They were set up on the side heading North, approx 10 mins North of Squamish, right after a sweeping corner (buggers)

It's a GREAT road, but helps to have some electronics on board.

Some thoughts,

Just before Horseshoe Bay as you take the cut over Eagle Ridge, there are sometimes speedtraps. As noted above, there are often traps around Lions Bay, Furry Creek and Squamish. If the cops are looking to make a quota that day, they use a helicopter and do time trials on your car between two points and then radio down to waiting patrol cars. They often due this on Sunday's when lots of people are coming back from Whistler as you approach Squamish.

FYI, BC has some of the harhest speeding laws in North America. If you are caught more then 40 km/h (25 MPH) over, the fine for a speeding ticket ranges from $368 (for going 40 kilometres over) to $483 (for going more than 60 kilometres over the speed limit).

BUT, the real kicker is they also impound your car for a minimum of seven days and that fee after the 7 days is ~$210-250, depending on who tows it, to get your car out.

At the end of the day, you can expect to be out ~$700 bucks plus the nice 7 day wait for your car which sometimes comes as a real shock for people from out of town.

That is a great road and you will be tempted to open the car up but try and keep it under 25 MPH over!

Regards
