Which is faster 2009 Z4 sDrive35i or Z4 M roadster?
Did anyone read any comparison yet between the latest Z4 sDrive35i pinned against the current Z4 M roadster as far as which is faster and handles better? I just bought a 2008 last of the M roadster about a month ago and now the new Z4 sDrive35i came out with twin turbo.
If anyone has any links or video links to share about the 2 would be great.

They are really not that comparable of cars. If you look at the other threads in here the new Z4 has moved more towards a luxury vehicle and is not even close to as sporty.
They are two completely different cars as far as I am concerned. Be happy with your M, I know that is the one I would rather have!

Your Z4M is a true sports car with untapped performance potential. The E89 is a sporty type luxury car for those who want to look fast with no real concern about driving fast. Horsepower numbers are only one part of the performance equation.

That 1:26 was in the wet, also.
The M is faster. Much lighter, more aggressive gearing, very similar power.

The E89 is much more comparable to a Mercedes SLK or the now defunct Lexus SC430. It's a luxury cruiser, and nothing more.
The E85 and E86 ///Ms with better tires and brakes and conducted by a good driver are fairly close to Porsche GT3 territory in terms of track performance. So obvioulsy there really is no comparison between the current and last generation Zeds beyond anything more than just their looks.

If BMW is gonna keep making softies, I think I will have to go over to the last company who sells true performance cars... Porsche.
Besides, nicely equipped SD35i in my showroom was 66k!!!!!!! YOU CAN BUY A NEW E90 M3 FOR THAT MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Manufacturer do listen to customers complaints.
I know prior to picking up my Z4MC, I read a lot of owners reviews on how the ride is harsh, not comfortable, blah, blah, blah. Well, to these people, the new 09 Z4 was designed specifically for you...soft and comfortable. Please, if you want luxury comfort, don't buy a sport car, and don't ruin it for the people who truly appreciate a sport car. end rant.

It just bother me to see all these new overweight sport cars (ie. Z4, G37) from great companies that designed these new cars specifically for all these whiners who shouldn't be driving a sport car in the first place. Just because you can afford one that doesn't mean you should own one.

Nice...I traded my 997 for this, not by choice(I got offered more than my purchase price) but I don't regret it!!
on a side note... After reading all the rave reviews on the 135i I decided to test drive one and your right it wasn't egdy enough nor was the turbo power delivery inspiring...I don't get these automotive journalists sometimes. Before trading in my 997 I set my heart on the e92 m3 after driving it until I saw the last z4m on the lot and gave it a drive. The drive was fully engaging and raw, and of course with that sometimes tireing to drive, but that's why I love it!! congrats

Agreed! I think people that want a sports car should be able to deal with one. Or just make the 335i look more sporty or something, don't completely ruin the last real sports car you make for a couple of whiners.
I will probably get a lotus or porsche for my next sports car I guess...

The new Z4 is a Mercedes SLK in a BMW body. It does not compare to the Z4 //M. I was at a track day in Tuttlingen Germany on 1 August and the Z4 //M was flat out kicking the new Z4's butt!
