Connecting to Bluetooth
Hey Guys,
I am having issues connecting to bluetooth. I have taken pictures and attached them all in order, with the steps I take to connect. Turn on car (I should have a minute to connect from when car is on) Hit R/T Button, which will tell me to connect phone Click on car bluetooth on phone and enter last 4 of VIN as the pin to connect. Then I get an error. I have an Iphone4S and it is compatible according to bmwusa.com Thanks. |

It's not the four digits of the vin. You should have a white card with a pk code on its, that's the pin. If you don't have it, it's stamped on the bt module behind the rear "firewall" carpet.

I haven't done it yet, but I've read the easiest way to read the PK code is by taking out the drivers side subwoofer behind the seat. You can shine a flashlight in there and read the code on the box.

If you see the pictures I posted, it says the pin is correct, is that error wrong?
I am kind of a nub, where and what is the bt module and where and what is the "firewall" carpet? |

The error message is saying "make sure the PIN is correct".. In other words, the error message is reading like this..
Please make sure: 1. BMWxxx is ready to pair 2. The PIN is correct

No that is not what the error is saying... unless you want to explain its implying the opposite of what it is saying.
I can try the other pin, I looked behind my seat and I do not know how to take the sub out. I tried to wedge in a pen to pop it up but that did not work. |

Agreed with elwesso. The PIN code is NOT the last 4 digit of your VIN.
No...the error is telling you to make sure the PIN code is correct. |

BT Pairing code
It is printed on the module accessable from the trunk. You have to remove the carpet and remove the three nuts that hold the bracket. The bracket and module are on the drivers side.

The subwoofer(s) in a Z4 is mounted in a closed cavity that will not provide any access to read the PK code off the TCU module. You will have to either get at the TCU from the hatch/trunk or have the dealer or someone with a scanner get it off the car for you.

I got the code, and the only thing that works through the bluetooth is my phone making a call. Is there a certain procedure I need to follow in order to play music off my phone or would this feature not be available? I tried hitting mode and playing with the R/T button.

I don't think you can make music play off your phone via bluetooth in this car.
Just out of curiousity, how did you get the code?
