On another note can you comment on any leaks your experiencing and the method you used to ensure a good seal on the V band sections !

On mine I thought I had a minor leak after a few days
I just cranked the V bands a little tighter and I was OK.
Have done a track day since and still good.
Seems that they need more tightening than you might expect and then a re-do after they have settled in.

ok mine came in.....

just need to get a 02 bung welded in and ill start the install, looking at the cats i will be sticking those in, they look so free flowing and small in length i really thing the gains will be small against the resonators, id love to hear it uncorked however.

beautiful looking items, now... lets see how they mate up :-P

ill be testing the cats while at the shop to work out if ill pass emissions tests and me and the shop are fully prepared to make mods needed if the s-pipe section doesn't line properly.

lets see.

im GUESSING the extra EGT and exhaust flow these cats may work for me.. or i could be deluded.

Ian...

I'm moving the car over to my parents house this week to start the install on saturday coming...

bare in mind I'm doing this on my back on axle stands, will i be better removing the hole system or do you feel i can just remove the section 1 using wobble extension set to gain access to the difficult bolts. What has been your method and experience??

i hate paying a shop for any work on my car, exhaust isn't hard more time consuming, but if you tell me ill struggle doing on axle stands, ill take it to a shop and be done with it.

thanks in advance.

You will more than likely have to unbolt the mufflers and take off the xpipe with section 2. I did my install on jack stands and did it that way when reinstalling my stock section 2 with welded O2 bungs. The bolts on the Xpipe to Section 2 are a pain in the butt to do with it bolted to the car.

Are the reinforcement plate bolts under the X-pipe single use? I was under the car doing some stuff last week but ran out of time to install my section 1. I had heard removing the mufflers and the x-pipe (or at least sliding it back?) would be the easiest but I wasn't sure the easiest way to do this with the x-pipe.

hmmm doesn't seem to bad actually if you do it that way...

are you guys buying new bolts / gaskets for the connections or re-using whats their???

thanks for the help.... hoping to get this done very shortly... slightly nervous about doing this on my back with stands and ramps, but removing mufflers then dropping the whole thing makes sense actually.

while I'm their i'll change out one of my 02 sensors which was throwing codes no so long ago for a faulty heater circuit... the stock s-pipe looks heavy as hell!

I agree with Mirko, drop the cans then take section 1 and Xpipe off in one piece.

When assembling DKF on the shop floor keep the pipes level (level across the parallel pipes all the way through including Xpipe) when bolting up otherwise the offset S pipes will not line up properly.

Snug the racing clamps up tight so that nothing moves while putting the system back on the car.
Bolt everything up just snug and check alignment.
Racing clamps can be loosened and rotated if you didn't get alignment correct.
Tighten everything STARTING with the racing clamps, then do them again after all others are tightened.
Tighten them as much as you can. I clamped the shite out of mine (used the armstrong torque wrench so don't know a torque #)
Also, if not using the EGT or O2 bungs be sure to tighten the cap and plugs.
The leak that Caddy had was due to the EGT cap falling off.

According to TIS , yes they are.
Practically, not really necessary.
I have had mine on & off several times reusing the hardware without any issue.

Thanks for the reply, Ian. Beedub asked if everyone is replacing bolts and gaskets. I bought all new gaskets to try to avoid any leakage issues that might come down to reuse of those but I was going to reuse the bolts.

ok ill pickup some new gaskets. I'm going to re-use the bolts.... I'm guessing to get the 02 sensors out, the easiest way is to disconnect from the cars harness and remove off the car.
They appear to just clip in place towards the front of the car.

thanks for the advice guys...

I reused gaskets when the car was newer, but have replacements this time.
On Caddy's his 3 bolt flange gaskets were still in good shape when we took it apart, so we reused them.
We had new donut gaskets that came with the Fabspeed headers.

All the M10s are torque-to-yield.
They're the same as the front reinforcement plate (M10x35).
Also, one end of the "straps" is the same bolt, and the other end is M10x40.
All are torque to 58Nm plus 90°.
Just sayin'.

I was able to get my midpipes out without removing anything else.
I won't say it was easy, but I think it was easier than taking everything else apart.
I had to bend up a strip of steel to stick up between one of the copper nuts and the pipe, to jamb it in place and stop it from spinning.
I also used lots of extensions.

thanks for the advice stickmon.

in terms of fitment, I'm definitely going to drop the while thing... far more practical than wedging items in etc to help remove the bolts, while I'm their i can have alittle clean up under the car too of those hard to reach areas!

excited to get this underway, being held up by local god damn welders !!

The weather seems to be changing here early as well.... this is cutting my time to do this!!!
good old england!

so to confirm you've reused the bolts and just replaced gaskets??

I've just priced up all the bolts.... came to 78GBP..... like 140 bucks... insane... i don't really think its needed tbh...

as your had your exhaust off more than most, if your good to go, then I'm going to follow suit.

Even the gaskets cost nearly twice what I was expecting from the dealer. I had planned to do the install last time I was home so I just bought them but now I wish I'd ordered them online since I didn't get around to it and may not for another month now.

Hey sorry about getting back on here late. My issue (leak) was due to the EGT nut falling off as well. I've been looking locally (Germany hardware stores) but as my German isn't that great and they don't read 14mm x 1.5 I was wondering what "M" series the nut is so I can buy a new one. I tried looking through a junk yard for lugs as a stop gap with no luck.

seems quite common that particular nut falling off.... something we all need to keep an eye on.
