No biggie, I'm missing the undertray anyway. Ran over truck tire pieces on the highway. hahah

Bumper ordered! Excitement building, especially since this mod isn't coming out of my pocket

If you decide you want fogs later, maybe we can work out a swap for light control modules. I did the M bumper conversion on my non-M, so I don't need the fog selection. We would have to look and see if there's any car-specific data stored in the LCM.

I don't think the M comes with light control modules, and I don't think the basic aero bumper kit I bought comes with it either. Shipping kinda sucks though, I didn't budget for it. $175. sheesh

The Aero bumper is now with the painter, who will also fill in the holes for the headlight washers. They're only charging me $75 for that option, and BMW wants $60 for 2 new covers, so its a no brainer.

I asked about eliminating the fog light holes, and they said they can do it, but there is a lot of work involved and it would be costly. My plan is to use them for brake ducts, maybe even combine piping with the openings below them (the bottom side grills)

whew! that was scary, it wasn't even close to clearing the intercooler without modifying all 3 the lower grilles and the corners of the bumper itself. For some reason, the lower grills have a large protrusion behind it that I had to slice off.

Also, the corners of the bumper that have little tabs that snap into the $36 piece that often breaks off: the M bumper has indentations between 2 of the tabs and this one didn't. Took me 10 minutes to figure out why the hell the corners weren't snapping into place. Then I cut out the little grooves it was missing.

By the way, the basic aero bumper kit from tischer doesn't include a tow hook cover ($20), or the $36 x 2 headlight washer covers. Thankfully my local euro car paint shop only charged me $75 to fill and hide the headlight washer covers.

Note the cuts on the back of the grille

to anyone that had the 445 kit and upgraded to the 500 i was curios to hear your thoughts on the following
-usability
-mpg
-drivability
-$ to HP capita(to upgrade)
-any negatives or positives from going from 445 to 500? i.e. Tire wire, clutch, higher running temps, clutch slip?
-weight difference? i know the 500 weigh about 35lbs more than the 445 with all the additional components, is it noticeable?

Thanks - Tommy

I went straight to the 500, but from everything I've read, the 445 actually has noticeably higher running temps than the 500 because the intercooler makes a very significant difference. IIRC the oil cooler is also larger?

Highly recommended; the extra power and torque is very noticable and brings the car into a true supercar realm. It's almost as fast once locked up in 2nd as my 2012 911 Turbo S

Hi zstig,

ESS sent me intercooler brackets that belong to E46 M3, can you please measure the intercooler brackets your have as well as take angles so that i can fabricate it locally?

I also need the length of the intercooler pipe bracket

I also need pictures of both intercooler pipes (sc to i/c and i/c to intake) taken from below the car as well as from above so that I know how to install them.

I was sent an e46 M3 manual as well. so i don't know how this will fit exactly.

If you got an e46 kit it's wise to contact ess and ask if there are more differences if you didn't already have.

I also recieved an E46 kit (somehow they dont have different order#), and with mine (m54 engine) there were more differences than only the brackets which you only notice when building. For exemple the bolts to hold the belt rollers were longer then they should be, resulting in screwing the bolts in the cast oil filter housing too deep, resulting in cracking the oil filter housing (the bolt lug with thread). Luckily I have a Tig welder which can handle aluminium so I could fix that because that cast oil filter housing is a $400,- part....
I also needed another belt and some parts.

i need my car running with locally made parts before ESS send the correct bracket. that's why i need measurments and tons of pics from different angles.

ESS should give you the info you need, more accurately than me. I can help you, but not until later tonight.

If you're talking about the "intercooler pipe bracket" that attaches straight into the intercooler piping that has a hole in it, my kit didn't come with the correct one either (too short) so I fabricated one myself using a piece of aluminium

Ok thank you zstig, as i will do that as well. The bracket is too short and with the help of pics from beedub I discovered this.

Any pic would be wonderful from you guys as it will show me the pipes positions.
