throttle reset

In a different thread I was advised to try a throttle reset using the ignition key. Question- what does this technically do? Is the Ecu involved at all with this? Is the ecu learning your driving style and adapting the throttle response accordingly?

fen, the ecu itself does learn ur style of driving and adapts the throttle response accordingly. resetting it simply reverts back to default mapping.

Anyone want to clarify how to do this correctly? I have read many variations of the procedure.. Also, is this reset "key specific"... I swear my car doesn't respond as well using my spare key... Thanks..

Not sure how to do it using a key but typically disconnecting the battery for a few minutes then hooking it back up will reset everything.

You'll probably have to do this throttle reset every time you start your car. It adapts very quickly once it's been reset. It's not a magic bullet.

Don't you turn the ignition to position 2 for 20 seconds, then turn the ignition off quickly without removing the key and then immediately start the car?

Quote:
If you have different people driving your car, or have been doing a lot of town driving, this can help to reset the throttle responsiveness back to factory defaults.

Turn ignition off
Turn key to "on" position
Wait 15 seconds
Turn ignition off
Wait another 15 seconds

Start the car.... you should find the responsiveness has been reset.
