Damn that's an impressive sound. Intake sounds pure BMW, and exhaust sounds like a 1960's le mans car. Great vid

out-of-car acceleration video...

just wanting to update my own thread, though this must be getting old already!

decided to shoot a couple of videos of acceleration from outside to showcase the rpi's and gruppem separately. sound quality is average (recorded on a run-of-the-mill, non-hd, non-stereo canon sd750) but hopefully sufficiently conveys emotion. it's still an absolute blast to explore the rev range from idle all the way to redline!

Arrow 1st gear WOT

realized i could engage 1st gear and leave the clutch in to record the rpi's all the way to 8000rpm without road or wind noise and all tt. somehow felt that an enclosed carwash shelter would be best standing about 6 feet away, the sound at WOT is piercing and deafening, although my point-and-shoot really struggles to capture the full experience.

Sounds bad a$$ ... very nice ... my only problem with it would be the raspyness of the RPI exhaust ... still prefer my Supersprints ... but still envious

FYI I'd be careful in the future about revving to redline with no load... BMW has the rev limiter set for a reason...

^thanks, i'm aware i understand it's impossible to rev above the 8000rpm limit unless one accidentally downshifts at too high revs.

the rpi's have next to no discernible rasp at all either.

Personally not a fan of the RPI sound at all. Sounds realllly ricey, just my humble opinion. I'm not a fan of that tinny, raspy, 2-stroke sound. If I were going to get an exhaust it'd be Eisenmann. Throaty.

RPi's sound a LOT more throaty in real life, but in my honest opinion, every single exhaust mod sounds raspy/tinny on our cars

i think any manner of exhaust sound will be subjective, which is why there's a wealth of choices to be had. i've only ever heard supersprint sports and my rpi's in-person, and where i can appreciate the supersprints being much more understated and respectable, the rpi's really take my driving experience altogether to another level of enjoyment. the latter is most valuable to me and i guess as far as happiness is concerned, i'm not bothering to split hairs on the finer points of which exhaust setup sounds the 'best'.

to each his own

Eisenmann race sounds pretty good, hard to tell in vids, then again, the Eisenmann is pretty expensive but on my xmas list.
