H&R coilovers installed today.
Hi everyone,
Well, I've finally achieved what I've wanted my car to look like all along. I almost allowed myself to get psyched out over some bad things I've read from users in this forum and others about H&R, but honestly I have no idea what they're talking about now. I dropped the car an inch and a half all the way around, and there is NO rubbing, even with 245/35/19 and 275/30/19s in the rear. The ride is damn near comparable to stock, I honestly could tell no difference driving around all afternoon. The only difference I can think of is that the car no longer "pogos" over slow bumps, but that was probably due to the 45k miles on the stock shocks anyway. My car is strictly for looks, and these H&R coils are an absolute dream on the street. The price is fair, the car dropped great, and the ride is like stock. What the heck were some people complaining about? Anyway, the car was turning heads today like you couldn't believe. Had the top down and heard several "nice car" comments. The car is *finally* where I want it to be, the drop really brought everything together. So to close, if you're like me and just want the car to look great while keeping the stock ride characteristics pretty much, just go H&R and save a ton of money. Don't let the naysayers influence your opinion, these things are just fine. Now excuse the crappy pics, just took some real fast with a crummy camera I keep in the car before it got dark. Drove the car around for a couple hours and want to go drive some more!! |

When did you sell the coupe and when did this Roadster come in to your life?? Are you sure you didn't install the springs only? those c/o were rock hard for me...teeth chattering stiff. When did you get the acs diffuser, brakes, grilles, exhaust? That car is definitely a stunner, congrats btw: bbs ch's are my favorite wheels on this car We definitely need a so cal meet up

What is your front wheel droop travel with this H&R coilover?
Droop travel is the difference between static height and the jack-up height so it tells us how much the suspension can travel down / droop. 1) measure "A" , distance (ride height) between the bottom wheel to fender line. 2) Jack up the front side until the tire is in the air, measure "B", new distance (ride height) between the bottom wheel to fender line "B" - "A" = Droop travel. |

None, absolutely nothing. I'm telling you, if the suspension had come to my garage last night and swapped everything out, I wouldn't have noticed. I was fully expecting a harsh ride etc. (kinda like when I went to 19s), but....nothing. Car feels exactly the same to me as it did before the install. I simply couldn't be happier. Time will tell if it stays like this, might take a bit of time for everything to set in.
Thanks for all the kind compliments everyone. |

The car looks perfect... Whats the drop in mm?? About 38mm according to my calculations??
Definatly no rub on full lock and compression?? Whats the offset on the wheels? I have to say im amazed your not getting rub at that height, im almost certain once youve loaded the car up that it will rub quite abit.... The car looks perfect, its how they should sit from the factory....... did you use any reinforcments on the rear mount points? then again if you use the stock type spring and damper setup in the different location i dont think its needed, only for a proper rear coilover setup.

I drove the about 3 hours yesterday, and did the work commute this morning. I head one small *pssht* noise on a pretty heavy dip. I don't know if this was a rub, or the suspension making noises. It only happened once. If it did rub, it was on the inside of the tire as none of the four showed any marks on the outside. No reinforcment on the rear mounts. I probably should have gone with REs or whatever while I had everything off the car, but I'm too lazy and never got around to buying them. If I start hearing noises, I can always put them on. From what I've read however, it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks again! |
